The Sestak v. Toomey race is interesting.

Just had a lengthy discussion with 2 Tea Party members on Facebook asking me (in all seriousness) why I think Sarah Palin is stupid.

My brain exploded a little bit tonight.

And the Runyan thing. jesus. really?

sarah palin is uniquely american, pg.  she represents a huge cross-section of ill-informed bible thumping racist clowns that comprise a significant majority of people in this country.

america chose ignorance, fear and superstition tonight.

farg all of us for that.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

My real problem with the left is displaying itself here. You snarky jackasses think anyone who disagrees with you is just stupid. Well that's not right. I am a Libertarian at heart, do I think you leftys are dumb? No, just disingenuous. My belief in self-reliance, self determination and minimalist government makes sense to me.

Who is this douchebag again? I'm assuming its someone from the past under a new name?

It makes sense to a lot of people to a smaller country.

A country of 350 million and 50 states needs a bigger, stonger central power. Hell, the country TRIED the type of thing you are talking about for about 6 years, it was called the Articles of Confederation, before guys like Washington and Jefferson realized that there needed to be a strong central government with a national congress and etc

Just from your other comment in the no hippos...explain to me exactly how a flat tax is fair? Somebody makes $25,000, and somebody else makes $100,000. Lets say the flat tax is 25%. 25% of that person making $25,000 brings their yearly disposable income down to $18,750 dollars. 25% on the guy making 100K brings his disposable income down to $75,000. Who do YOU think the flat tax is hurting more? To the guy making 100K, that 25K he loses is, what...maybe an upgrade to his kitchen, or not getting the new car this year. To the guy making 25K, that 6K+ taht he loses is half a years rent, and probably some meals on the table.

There's a reason why every established, successful Western society implements a tiered tax system, and that's because it is the most fair to the people and the one proven to be most successful.

Munson, I think you answered that question yourself.  If the government taxes me 25% why shouldn't they tax you 25%? I can't fathom how anyone sees this as anything but fair.

Munson

Did the math not just prove it?

The flat tax very obviously hurts people with lower incomes more, as it takes away valuable chunks of disposable income. If I'm making 100K, I can afford to be taxed 25% because I still have more than enough disposable income to live a middle class life. If I'm making 25K, be taxed 25% could be taking meals off my table and clothes off my back. How is that fair? I guess the person making 25K should just try harder, right?

because 25% of 200 million is pennies while 25% of 20k is fairly significant

No one ever guaranteed anyone a middle class lifestyle, clothes on their back or food on their table. PURSUIT of happiness is the correct terminology. And MDS I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not, but $50,000,000 is not pennies.
