i think it was 3 total suspects were arrested last night for planning to blow up buildings in dallas and los angeles.

Sarge.. did you ever encounter the LRAD acoustic weapon they are using on protesters at the g20 summit?
They said there were about a thousand of the devices used by soliders in Iraq.
I was wondering if you had been in the area when one of them was going off.

nah, i've never encountered it.  wouldn't prefer not to as well since my hearing already sucks as it is.  you spend enough time around things that go boom and it'll eventually take it's toll on you.

I heart the ACLU.

the aclu, in it's present state, has become a joke.  waterboard them until they change their ways.

I was down at Aberdeen Proving Grounds 2 weeks ago, i would love to work there.  Test driving vehicles all day, then shooting rounds sounds like a great job.

you couldn't be more wrong.  that's true of NAACP, once a great institution, but not of the ACLU

if they stopped defending the kkk, and only fought for liberals, I'd see your point.  but they continue to stick to their core purpose regardless how scummy the individual is, and they do a f'n great job at it.

in richer years I've given them money and I'll gladly do so again when I can afford it

SPLC is a great organization, no doubt.

But they aren't nearly as important as the ACLU.

actually its not even close...but i cant hate on anyone who gives the aclu...its more of a media darling bandwagon thing but still a solid organization nonetheless...but know that it isnt on the same planet as the splc....bigger but not more important

The SPLC is a great organization but to act as though its more important, in any way, than the ACLU is laughable.

BTW I donate to the ACLU regularly and am finally going to be joining the NRA as well. The NRA is marketing to the lowest common denominator of the right wing crazies, but at its core it is an organization designed to protect our rights so I'm getting on board. Suck it.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

when they decided to defend nambla, they basically lost all credibility they built up prior to that.  i do agree, the naacp is practically a mockery of what it used to be, and overall, the aclu does a fantastic job in representing everyone, regadless of who they are or what they represent.  maybe i'm putting too much weight on the whole nambla thing but that's just disgusting and farging some kid in the cornhole is not a constitutionally protected right.

i also can't say i agree with them defending that church that was protesting at military funerals and basically holding up signs saying that they were glad that a soldier died.  i'm all for freedom of speech and expression but i would consider that act to be harrassing in nature, not to mention in extremely poor taste and comepletely inconsiderate of the people greiving the loss of a loved one.  they know their actions would encite rage in their "target."  arguing that their freedoms of speech and expression were violated was an extremely loose interpritation of the law to say the least.

so yeah, even though they've done an infinite more amount of good than evil, those 2 cases are black eyes that can never be healed or covered up imo.

there's plenty of liberal thinking gun owners out there and i'd love to see all of them join the nra and take over.

maybe i'm in the minority here, but i think that the 2nd ammendment has been used and abused by the nra.  2nd ammendment intent was to allow people to own a gun to protect their property and hunt for food and both are still very valid reasons for owning a gun today.  like a pistol, shotgun or hunting rifle.

i really don't see the need for any private citizen to own a fully auto rifle or a farging bazooka and think they should be banned from being sold to ordinary people.  it's probably quite hypocritical of me to say that since i'm a very strong proponent of all freedoms, even when the use of freedom goes against the grain with what is morally right, but i can't help but think about how many billy bobs out there can't afford to move out of the trailer park but he's got an arsenal in his shed that could arm a small army.
