This thread consistently bounces between amusing and maddening.
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

Thanks for making it maddening again, jerk

I'm still amused.

I'm not even a Democrat and I thought shorebird's post was pretty hilarious.  How can you smash liberalism and in the same post suggest the government intervene and buy up all the mortgages in the country?  That may be one of the most socialist ideas I've read in this thread and that's saying something.

It's amazing how angry people can get at each other speaking about politics.

shorebird's point, I think, is that they could have spent the same amount of money to simply buy out all the mortgages and that it would be BETTER than what they have done (starting with TARP and the Bush/Paulson regime).

I think.

Yes. And I'd still like to have someone tell me what would have been a better plan.

Lighting the money on fire would have been a better plan than paying off every mortgage in the country. You want to see how fast home values drop when suddenly they are all paid for by the government...
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Let the market correct itself by allowing big businesses to fail and creating thousands of more jobs lost. No pain; no gain

No, it would stimulate the economy more than anything, and with people having more money to spend, vaules of homes wouldn't go down because the market would be back up. I can't believe some of the things I've read here just becuase I suggested that the stimulus money that was poured straight into government could be better spent elsewere.  Another way to stimulate the economy better would be to put a part of those billions into a fund that would provide low interest loans (2-3 %) for small businesses in the private sector that would allow them to get back on thier feet or just not go out of business. That would also provide jobs.

Who is angry? Not me. I've been called a right wing zealot, which really makes me laugh. All for making a suggestion that goes against the annointed ones plan.

And I'm still waiting for someone to make a serious suggestion as to how the money could have been better spent, but get nothing but the same old liberal beating around the bush, talking a lot without saying much of anything.

My point is that I'm not the radical right winger everyone here thinks I am.

1. I can if I don't consider it incredible liberal bullshtein.

2. I don't know that it isn't a good way to stimulate the economy, only time will tell that. I just don't see how taxpayers money that we don't  even have being poured back into government is going to do it.

What gets me is that I get bashed for suggestion of other ways the money could be spent while no one here can come up with a better solution. Also, no one here can tell me how the stimulus plan will create 4 million jobs or stimulate the economy, all anyone can do is bash away and say how crazy I am because I don't agree with the annoited ones line of bullshtein.

so let me get this straight you have no idea if barrys plan will work and other than have the govt buy up all the mortgages you have offered nothing yet youre demanding that other people give you solutions?

perhaps people want to wait more than a month and a half to see what happens with the stimulus plan
