Took me an hour to get through the line and vote this morning in Missouri. I got there when the poll opened and the line was out the door and down the block. Lots more young families then I usually see in line this time around and some kids there that had to just have turned 18. Good on them.

the local news down here were interviewing the first people in line at a local high school...it was four 18 year old kids who got there at 410 in the morning to vote...and even more incredibly they were all black

like i said before regardless what you think of obama his run here has had an incredible effect on the people of this country...voter apathy is something that plagues the us....ive talked to so many people over the past year who have  commented on how they never cared about politics until barry came along....that shtein sticks with you...if the guy is able to get people to care about politics hes doing something....and that includes the people hes getting to come out and vote against him

also when i saw these kids on the news it made me think again how great a role model barry is for black kids...and that many of them can know now that someday they too can become potus
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

To say the only way he loses is racism, is bringing out the boogeyman. God forbid more people disagree with his politics, or that maybe people trust McCain more then him to lead this country.

Do you honestly believe that people feel better about McCain shepherding the economy forward? The same McCain who said that he doesn't know anything about the economy? And even if you do, do you think that a majority (plurality) of people in the country do? Or that a majority of Independent voters do? There's no chance you could convince me of that.

There is no reason to believe Obama can do any better, other than then the sheer fact that one other Republican farged it up the last time

There is nothing convincing about either one of the candidates vast knowledge of the economy...never has been. its a shame we are not voting on their hired help

For me both parties are just different versions of farged up every year. Obama probably won't be as bad as Carter or as good as Clinton by Democrat standards and McCain won't be as bad as Bush nor as good as Reagan by GOP standards.

I totally agree on this point. Even if he is as bad as Carter his winning is a great example to kids of all stripes for what he's had to overcome and certainly the message to the international community would be resoundingly positive. Reagan was an unqualified disaster.  Carter was worse, though.

In hindsight, yes, Reagan was a trainwreck, but for the 8 years that he was in charge this country thrived. His policies have caused a lot of problems since then but at the time he was one of the most popular and successful presidents ever.

Poor minority women are certainly NOT undesirable.

Just voted.  The line for people with last names from A - K was 53 people deep (yes, I counted).  The line for L - Z (which is my, luckily), was one person deep.  Very farging strange.

Anyway, Pub, Dem, Pub for the top three.  Several races I didn't vote for because I didn't do the research on the candidate.  And I voted on all but one of the amendments.

I agreed with IGY to a point- people getting out to vote is a good thing.  What would be better is getting people to read about the candidates, issues, amendments, and anything else except listening to TV and radio ads, which I will assume 60%+ of the people base their vote on.  So, to amend IGY's comment that more people voting is a good thing, people voting when they are educated about what they are voting for is a good thing.  More people voting based on TV and radio ads is a very, very bad thing.

Massachusetts is voting to significantly reduce the consequences of marijuana possession. Citations and meetings rather than jail time and huge fines. VOTE YES ON QUESTION 2!
can i cast my acorn vote up there?

To give some insight into just how retarded Massachusetts is:
- There were 6 positions to vote on on my ballot.
- President and Senator had a normal array of political party options.
- The Democratic Congressman in my district was running unopposed.
- 2 other rinky dink positions were held by Dems and running unopposed.
- The State Senator seat was being contested between a Democrat and a Socialist Worker Party candidate.

In general terms Reagan is considered the best president by the Right side and Clinton is considered the best president by the left side. Big surprise that Reagan would get thrown under the bus here. Right leaning folks consider Bill equally divisive.

Had my daughter with me first this morning and figured I could beat the crowd if I got there early enough - no such luck - it was already around the elementary school where I have to vote. Just picked up our sitter and am heading back over now. I'm guessing it'll be a 2 hour wait at least.

Rome

My mom was working as a waitress during Reagan's glory years and his indifference and outright attack on working people nearly put us in the poor house.   He screwed millions of poor and working class poor people with his trickle down bullcrap and I hope Satan is cleansing his colon with lava vigorously right now.

So you're saying that your mom is a sexy low-income minority? Rowr.
