I found this mildly interesting.  Is any of it not true?

Let me guess, you got that in an e-mail?

Reality check: don't you think that that brief set of statements wouldn't make a much better impression than "I can see them from my house"?  If any of them were remotely true, wouldn't it headline every one of her stump speeches?

If there was any doubt left, the commander of the Alaska national guard already set the record straight:
Quote"When members of the National Guard are federalized, they work for the president," Campbell said Wednesday. "It's not just overseas. They could be federalized to go to other states or they could even be federalized in the state."

Occasions in which Palin retains command authority over the 4,200-member Alaska National Guard are whenever the Guard responds to in-state natural disasters and civic emergencies, said Campbell, who also serves as the commissioner of the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs .
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

The GOP is so lost right now they might give the Dems control of the house and senate AND the magic 60 to eliminate the filibuster. All this despite a supposedly low congressional approval rating. You almost have to work at losing to the Jack Ass party this bad.

They'd probably have to get to 61, since Lieberman is shifting towards the right a bit.  He's trying to be the Democratic "maverick."

Let the dems have a meaningful majority and he'll slide back. He's a snake.

I highly doubt it will be 25%, but the defense budget is going to have to be streamlined.  In the current economy, there really can't be anything immune to a long, hard look.  I wouldn't doubt an Obama budget that calls for a freeze in spending, or perhaps even up to a 10% cut.

Belts are having to be tightened across the nation.  It's not beyond comprehension to believe that the defense budget will also have to be tightened. The money is just not there right now.

There definitely needs to be a change.  I am in it and you hear all the time to spend what is budgeted or you will shrink your budget next year.  Stupid.  We also have recruiters (sorry Sarge) that recruit over our number of slots.  So if I only have 3 XYZ slots, they recruit to 4 or 5.  Of course I only get enough days to train the three.  Also, if a slot doesn't open up, the excess gets kicked out or forced to train into a different field.  Once again, stupid.

The Pubes better hope they have someone else lined up for 2012 than Palin or Bush #3. Good grief.

QuoteAll this despite a supposedly low congressional approval rating.

Pubes don't like Congress because it's now majority Democrat. Democrats don't like Congress because they're pissed that their party seems to bend over too easily, including them not substantially going after the Bush administration for their crimes. Independents don't like Congress because the congressional Pubes (with help from Bush #2) block anything meaningful from passing.

These people don't anger me anymore. I just look at it this way. Every society needs people like these. In our own society I'm sure they do a fine job at things like selling us rost beef at Arby's, digging our ditches, etc. Besides, if these people didn't exist then what the hell else would we expect tornados to hit? Those trailer parks serve as a good buffer.

Diomedes

Easy on the ditch diggers now.

Yeah the squadron I was in would burn up flight hours like crazy right before the end of the fiscal year to make sure we got the same amount of money budgeted for the next year. Certainly attributed to my 3000 hours in the back of a plane at any rate.
