I'll give you that.  I'm about as good of friends with John McCain as I am with you.

Debates may be useless to some but I took some things away from it.

I really didn't like McCain's health care tax credit thing and I wasn't sure how Obama would mandate child healthcare and pay for it. Also offering a large group plan to the uninsured would cost a lot of $$. Not something we seem to have a lot of. I didn't like McCain's call for a freeze on spending either. Seemed too drastic and a potenitally dangerous knee jerk reaction. McCain's morgages to folks is something that Bank of America has already done. Not sure how he would mandate that.

Foreign policy wise I think Obama is a little stronger then people give him credit for but I agreed with McCain on Pakistan. I agreed with Obama on talking to Iran and North Korea.

On taxes I get a cut from both guys not being a quarter of a millionare yet, so who cares.

On one hand I'm tempted to vote for grid lock (McCain). The government is most effective when it does nothing. On the other Palin shouldn't be that close to the presidency and Obama won't be a horrible president and has the potential to be good. I'm more worried about a democratic house and senate with a donkey in the white house. I don't think one party should ever control all facets and we have a perfect example of that through the begining of this decade. Maybe we need to be all left for a while to bring things back to center before getting to checks and balances again.

Demon stated that maybe the GOP was losing ground or Obama was a good speaker. To that end the GOP will be losing seats in the house and senate this year. The GOP is currently rudderless and needs a new message. Perception is that they had control of everything for 6 years and we are where we are. They are also easily tied to Bush. By the next presidential campeign I suspect there will be a new face on the GOP though I don't know what that face will be any more then anyone else.

I'll still be shocked if Obama is elected.

One thing that bothered me was that Obama did every dance step he could to avoid answering almost every single question he was asked.

I agree with what Phanatic says...I didn't like some of McCains answers on things.

But right or wrong, it seems to me that McCain at least has a plan. Obama, in my opinion seems to have less of a plan about things the closer we get to election.

I want one of these candidates to grab me, and convince me to vote for them...and honestly, they are both giving me more reasons to vote for their opponent.

I'm all for it. He stated before that the freeze wouldn't include money for veterans or senior citizens. Like you said about gridlock, the gov. is more effective when they do nothing. In this case they could scrutinize spending and be more effective with it.

The one question I wanted asked last night wasn't. That would be Why did you vote for the bailout and how is it going to effect or help people? They have been avoiding it like the plague and I think it's intentional.

The question was asked and they both answered it.

Obama said that if they didn't get money and confidence in the credit markets, businesses that use short term loans to make payroll and benefits would have to lay people off and cut benefits. So would the state of California it seems. McCain was a little more vague saying how the bail out was trickling down to "Main Street" from "Wall Street." (I hate buzz words)

So many other critical things that the government does that we don't realize besides that. I'm sure it might be well thought out but it didn't come across that way. Perception is most of the battle these days. If it isn't perceived well it won't be received well and most likely will fail.

Don't know how I missed it. But anyway, businesses that use short term loans to make payroll and benefits are operating on a shoestring anyway and most likely won't survive.

And trickling down to main street from wall street?!? Yeah.

Yeah the state of California does and was in trouble a few weeks ago because they couldn't get their short term loans. Go Arnold!
