QuoteIn the two weeks that the Wall Street financial crisis has dominated the political debate, the presidential race has shifted from what had been essentially a dead heat to one in which Sen. Barack Obama has opened up a narrow but perceptible advantage nationally, as well as in a number of battleground states.

The burden now falls on Sen. John McCain to reverse the effects of the focus on the economy, and to keep the contest close enough so that a dominant debate performance, a gaffe by Obama or some outside event can shift the momentum back to him.

So, do you think a terrorist attack might shift attention to McCain's perceived strength?

Call me paranoid, but I might stay away from tall buildings and international flights for awhile...
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

I think the rest of the debates will be more of the same. A mixed bag for both candidates. Few minds will be changed. The VP debate is normally meaningless but I remember John Edwards looking like a fool in his Cheney debate. He'd take a drink of water and rock his head back and forth like some prissy little bitch. It wasn't a good showing. Palin is still good for the GOP base and that is what she'll appeal to. It's a minority but a vocal minority. They have power in politics because they actively vote en mass for what they believe. Palin is one of them so all she has to do is play that card. If Biden looks like a mean old man of course that helps her cause.

So, i cant give any validity to this, but the lady i work with is chinese, and she read on some chinese newspaper about Joe Biden's health is failing him and he will withdraw from the race next week after the debate, and Hilliary will take the spot

Saw it posted somewhere else too...I don't see any reason to think it's legit. Although even though Hillary and Obama clash on some issues her as his running mate would be a slam farging dunk for the Dems.

Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

The Bush/Chaney regime scares the farg out of me.  They have no ethics, and they believe they are above the law.  I don't think they would have to organize an attack, but rather just let an attack happen.  McCain could keep his hands clean, and even be able to criticize Bush for how he handles it.

It is fringe, and I don't think it is going to happen.  Still, I wouldn't be shocked if it did.

Man........I can't believe you think that is even a possibility, however remote. Thats is as stupid and ignoarant a statement as I've ever seen, even for a looney leftist Obama knobslobberer like you. You think a man like McCain would stand by and let Americans die by the hand of terrorists, with knowlege of whatever it was that they had planned.

Good God, what the farg is wrong with you?

I'm still amazed at the bump in the polls that Obama has seen since the debate. Now granted there are other factors, but the fact that he came out of Friday night with this kind of momentum is a total shock to me.

I think a lot of that is the liberal media, i.e. Stefanopolus, spouting off how Obama won the debate.

PhillyPhreak54

When I hear that term, liberal media, it makes me homicidal. True or not, its about one of the most cliche things in our vocabulary.
