notice how cnn, nbc, etc. have reporters in ukraine and russia right now and fox does not. not that i need to convince anyone here that theyre not a real news network, but if anyone ever tries to use them a reference just ask why they dont do any journalism on the ground

anyway god speed ukraine, over a century ago my great grandfather climbed out of a shtetel in west ukraine (the town of Horodenka, if you know my last name, thats where its from). now the country could fall to a sociopath. what a time.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Ingraham had Cheeto Dick on and he went off the rails about the rigged election

Sergei Carlson is carrying Putin's water tonight too.

And scrolling Twitter shows just how many people somehow blame this on Biden and "if trump was in this wouldn't happen"

I think Putin's paranoia is more worrisome than Trump's narcissism or even that of China's Xi.

Putin has the hardest case of inferiority complex on the planet.  Poor bastich has nothing but oil and a crime family government, and a massive population of vodka pickled, just-got-off-horseback tribes.  His grip on them is tenuous, and best kept by drumming up a bogeyman threat from the West.  He knows we don't actually think much about Russia unless he's doing stupid shtein like invading former Soviet possessions, so he's playing the only hand he's got.  For me, the question is all about how the West responds.  There's an opportunity here for civilized countries to unify and oppose autocratic war mongering, and let the rest of the world see that when you go around invading, the consequences are not tolerable.  Or, the West could bicker and fracture, and fail to contain the bully.

I'd like to think the civilized world unites and shuts this down. But then it's about how he responds to those reactions.

Sanction the money and he will take it as an act of war.

You can see the fractures already. The years long disinformation campaign is coming home to roost. Russian propaganda and its infusion into American politics is playing out in real time. Russia used to be the boogeyman for the American right -but now they're nestled up right next to them.

I like this one from Tokyo. Usually I don't like the trite Hitler name calling but this time I'd give it a thumbs up.

I'd call it Vladolf Putler

I've been catching up on the news today. Just saw Joe's presser and thought he did well. Of course that smarmy little dipshtein from Fox, Doocy, was trolling him.

Also seeing a lot of anti war protests in Russian and reports of their soldiers surrendering because they weren't told of their full mission and/or they simply didn't want to kill people.

Maybe Vlad miscalculated.

Hopefully the EU jumps on board with knocking of their access to money. Squeeze his nuts one dollar at a time.

two interesting sports things I learned during war coverage.

1. Vitali Klitschko is the mayor of Kiev.
2. Ovechkin is only 32 years old.  I would have guessed 40.

Wait, Jay - do you mean there were Rusky troops surrendering to Ukraine? Hadn't hear that yet but it would be super welcome news. Reminds me at the Wall in '89 when East German prez Honiker gave orders shoot to kill, but when push came to shovel, E. Germans defied the order ...'and the wall came a tumbling down' as the song goes.

Agree completely that China is watching the Russian outcome with hyper intense interest, with their own stated objective of taking Tiawan at some opportune time. But of the billions in China, only about 6.6% are actual card carrying members of the CCP (Chines Communist Party). Who knows how many Chinese would say farg it if ordered to invade Tiawan? They're are an untested army and going back to their last war, Viet Nam handed them their ass (arguable though, same with the US and France. Scrappy lil fargers they are).

here's an incomplete list (no mention at all of Canada, for example...a strange oversight) of the sanctions so far:  https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/25/business/list-global-sanctions-russia-ukraine-war-intl-hnk/index.html

I'm hoping the world decides to shut down their acces to the swift exchange, too.  That's the real nut.

Kitanji Brown Jackson - only 51 so she'll be around a while hopefully.

We're going to get some disgusting objections from republicans over the next few weeks.

Yessir - I read several reports last night of them surrendering. They were young folks like 18-21ish and said they didn't want to kill. Also several retired military people have said the morale is low within the Russian ranks.

However I was just watching some videos on Twitter that showed a tank running over a civilian's car (and miraculously the UKR person inside survived!) and also some UKR citizens who were given guns ambushing a Russian truck and going in on them. I hope the UKR folks keep fighting those bastiches.

On China - because no real truth ever comes out of there its hard to guess how they'd fare in an invasion like that. But we don't want to find out that's for sure.
