Odds this develops into something substantial? Like names named and people arrested?

Who knows anything these days.  It all depends on how much Republicans of conscience can take, really.  Which of course, greatly depends on how much pressure people put on them.

With any luck, news of this caliber breaking at this pace right before tomorrow's vote may encourage the hardliners to hold their ground and submarine the bill, handing the fake President a loss they'll be proud to claim after he's eventually shown the door.

ACA, for first time, required all health plans to cover mental health and substance abuse care

Now, amid opioid crisis, House might undo it

I see it the opposite way, it's a complete disaster if your party holds the house majority and the bill still doesn't pass. Shows a lack of leadership and dissension among their ranks. Healthcare is an enormous subject right now, these town halls are all old people afraid to lose their healthcare. Trump can claim they tried but they own this shtein now.

It's not just that they're terrible.  They're maliciously stupid, greedy, hypocritical, soulless, petty & infantile.

One of the greatest things about the ACA is that it prevents insurance companies from hiking your rates due to preexisting conditions.  This is exceptionally beneficial for vets - or anyone who works in a physically demanding field such as law enforcement, construction, etc, etc - as the injuries and excessive stress placed on your body tends to add up over the years.

I'm not even a combat vet so I don't have to deal with the laundry list of ailments those guys are coming home with, but 18 years in the military has still left my body pretty shredded.  And while I can get treatment for everything I need free of charge through the VA, the closest hospital is about 90 min away and the closest clinic is an hour.  It's better than nothing, but not ideal.  ACA allows me the option of getting affordable insurance within a local network so that I don't have to make a 200 mile round trip to get my back looked at.  Not to mention that the VA isn't exactly the most reputable, top-notch healthcare facility to begin with.  Without that provision in the ACA, I almost certainly wouldn't be able to afford insurance.

Can't even imagine what a combat vet with PTSD, a missing leg, and shrapnel is his chest would have to pay if insurance companies could exploit preexisting conditions.

It just needs to pass the house so the senate can make changes to it. Trump/Ryan are making calls and trying their best to push this through. Nothing good comes out of this if they can't get it through the house. Trump has gone all in on this.

Veteran care has always been zesty and it's a shame that it's not been adequately addressed over the years. Pols pay lip service to it and then let it slide away. If I were a politician I'd draft something that says whatever your military budget is then you must have x% of it dedicated to veteran physical and mental healthcare. And I'm not talking like 0.25% either - a substantial percentage.

Additionally the ignorance of mental health care overall is an issue too. Don't see that addressed enough either.

Anyways...
