Yeah, if Hillary wins the Presidency my guess is that Castro may be her VP, and that will end up lining him up for a 2024 run.

I still think that Gillibrand is a dark horse VP candidate though.

Rubio will get the nomination and he'll pull some of the Hispanic vote with him. Generally speaking the Hispanic population is a conservative religious bunch who would more evenly distribute their vote if the right wasn't so ugly about race. Rubio talks like an adult so he'll get some of that vote back. Castro may be able to counteract that a bit and should definitely be the choice if and when Rubio comes out on top.

rubio is cuban....no one in mexico or central america gives two fargs about him and most hate him...in fact most Mexicans who make up by far the largest voting block amongst latinos would vote for a white over a Cuban...I don't know the history behind it but Mexicans and cubans do not get along

and that's besides the fact that on the actual issue that brown people care about most -- immigration reform -- they are overwhelmingly anti republican and anti Rubio

to get castro just to counteract the miniscule amount of lations that will vote for Rubio just because hes a latino would be a terrible mistake...I could understand castro if you needed to get out the Hispanic vote perhaps...but the immigration issue this year is so huge and well defined btwn the two parties I just think that its already like having a defacto latino vice prez for the dems and your real one should help you elsewhere

either be someone that can win you one of the big swing states or a brother (preferably a young one)

Yes, Rubio is cuban and yes his policies should disqualify him from pulling the latino vote, but if you think that the symbolism of a latino in the white house is not worth some swing votes I think you're way off. Obama pulled something like 95% of the black vote. No white democrat ever gets that number. Yes, black folks vote overwhelmingly Dem, but when they had an opportunity to vote a black dude into office they did so in overwhelming fashion even above and beyond the normal voting tendencies. I'm not suggesting that Rubio would swing the latino vote entirely, but he could take Florida with him and if he does that, this election suddenly looks a whole lot closer than I'm comfortable with.

we just have different definitions of "some"

i think getting out the black vote is far more important than counteracting "some" latino votes from a voting block that is going to be out in force and already voting for you in huge numbers

im making up these numbers cause I don't know exactly what the %'s are going to be but id rather have an extra 10% of black voters at the polls than i would take an extra 2% of people who are going to switch from democrat to republican because of rubio's last name

People routinely vote against their own best interests so a Rubio presidency wouldn't surprise me in the least.   He's as empty a shirt as has ever run for the office.  He's a vacuous whore for whatever monied interest he represents at any given moment.  He's little different than any other Rethuglican scum.

The best that can be said for him is he's not Ted Cruz.
