and the republicans havent lost their identity....they are who they are and have been that way for a long time...

This shows an incredible lack of understanding about the basic principles behind the Republican party but whatever. Republicans are evil. Democrats are saintly.

thinking the republicans are in some sort of massive trouble or that they have lost themselves is to not understand politics 101...that party that loses always hyperbolizes their loss and the media jumps on board because its a good post election story...remember how pathetically bad off the dems were when kerry ran...well a mere four years later a friggin black muslim won the presidency...maybe things werent as bad as people led on?

dont believe the hype
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

The Democrats are still a mess, but they've been given a reprieve thanks to a Republican party that is in even worse shape. The Democrats are horribly disorganized, which is exactly why a newcomer who had basically no experience was able to get their nomination in the first place. They've run the last two presidential elections on the premise that the party in power was bad and needed to be ousted, NOT that they had some great platform that people could cling to. The problem is that most people don't agree with lots of the basic principles behind the Democratic party. Being socially progressive and expanding the government's role in the country are not widely popular platforms.

It just so happens that in this election people finally agreed with the notion that Republicans needed to go. Both parties are in shambles right now, but the Democrats have a new leader who has momentum and is less tied to the old bullshtein and that gives them a leg up in the 'likely to right the ship' category. The Republican party tried to cash in all of their chips in an effort to marginalize Democrats and capture a permanent majority. They embraced certain entitlement programs and expanded the government and as a result lost their base and got their asses handed to them. The Democrats, disaster area that they are organizationally, at least managed to cling to their core principles. Unpopular though they may be. They have an identity.

The Republicans do not.

What Ron Paul said that really impressed me was that the GOP, during their control of everything, was only interested in marginlizing the democrats and nothing else. All of the supposed principles were put aside and all that mattered was making Dems look bad. In the end it collapsed around their ears because that is not a good plan for running anything.

I also liked what he said about running large deficits were OK as long as taxes were not raised. This overall caused the financial collapse and indirectly taxes the middle class as that's who's paying the price for this economic downturn. Certainly not the rich or corporate person who every right leaning pundit is protecting from 'wealth distribution'.

The last eight years have been a catastrophe.  The only way Obama could do any worse is if he accidentally triggers the apocalypse, and in all honesty, I'd be fine with that because it's all too clear now that the Eagles are NEVER going to win the Super Bowl anyway.

The Phillies won and that's the end of everything.

Goodbye.

The End.

64% of Republicans think Palin should run in 2012.

Is it a stretch to say that 100% of Democrats want her to run as well?
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Careful what you wish for.  She'll run on a strictly Religulous Right campaign of stop abortion, gays are the anti-Christ.  She'll get all the farging icehole Fundamentalist Christian pastors to vet her during sermons.  I don't want anything to do with her running in 2012.
Anyone but Reid.

You make a good point, but who do you think the fundies voted for this year? Barry?
