Palin's beliefs scare me, the tactics they are using disgust me (that sex-ed ad is repulsive).

I'm still waiting for Palin to talk about something OTHER than the following things:

"I told Congress 'thanks, but no thanks', for that Bridge to Nowhere."

"I fired my personal chef."

"I thought the governor's jet was a bit over the top, so I put it on ebay."

"Some politicians use change to promote their careers, while others use their careers to promote change."

Its hard to even imagine her saying something other than these since this is ALL she's said in ANY speech she's given so far. Is she planning on even touching on the subject of foreign policy or the economy at any time soon? So the hypothetical of her saying the same thing as Biden did today is pretty tough to imagine.

I don't know how many people share my point of view on this...but for me...there is a lot i like about both Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin. There are things I don't like about both as well. I will probably wind up voting for the who I think has the most "realistic" ideas for the next for years. For me it's pretty even.

I will say this...posting crap from conservative or liberal blogs complaining about a farging television commercial serves no educational purpose at all and actually backfires what your intended message. There's one thing that turns me off are these crusaders who feel they have to either defend every move their candidate makes, or bashes their opponent...both of which are equally baseless.

Candidates and politcal parties should not have "fans." Way to throw your objectivity and credibility right out the window. The only people that listen or read what you say are the people who feverishly agree with you (yeah! way to go!) or those who you have no chance of changing their minds.

However, there seem to be many, many more "lefties" on the board, who more than not, hate McCain and Palin.  They dig up the smallest details and then post them about how reprehensible, idiotic, disgusting, vile, and some other hate words the candidates and Pub party is.  Strange, coming from the peace-loving, accepting party.

I think that's the difference.

I don't think I'm quite as far gone as PG, but some of this criticism can be directed at me.  So, why the harsh reaction?

1) Every time that Obama has passed gas for the last 18 months, the press has been all over it like white on rice.  Every word, facial tic and presonal association has been poured over and dissected.  Obama has been given a disproportional amount of the press, and most of it has been negative.  Given that, I'm wondering why Palin hasn't yet been reduced to a quivering mass of jello.

2) Part of me, deep down and locked away, is painfully aware that McCain might win this thing.  Why does this upset me?  It is much more than that I disagree with them politically....
- It means that the country has once again selected a leader based on fear, lies and divisiveness
- It once more validates the tactics of Karl Rove, showing that he has not underestimated the ignorance of the American voting public.
- It means that the press has completely failed in its role to pursue the truth, rather than trying to present "both sides of the story" even when one side of the story is factually wrong.
- It means that the reputation of the US will continue to depreciate world wide, because the bully tactics advocated by this administration (and endorsed by McCain) are almost universally condemned.

I hang on to hope, but some days I feel like I'm watching Andy Reid run the Obama Campaign, and I'm asking myself: they must have game planned for this...they must have...right?...RIGHT?!?

I just wish they could talk about their plans for the country, instead of digging round for every -ism they can find to call the other.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

I was accused of posting sometihng from a blog but it was a video of an ad released by the McCain camp. It wasn't false or edited, its what is airing on TV. My thoughts on it are that it was as low as it gets using children to make a false point about a candidate. I don't care what blogs say. I know my opinions on the facts (that I read or hear and check on factcheck.org). Or conclusions I come to from watching speeches themselves. I don't formulate my opinions on what others think. I like to do my own research and my own fact checking, thank you very much.

I don't agree with everything Obama does or says, same with Biden.Never have, never will. I don't think Obama is a savior that will save this country in 4-8 years. BUT...I do think that he is the best candidate to start the country on that path to respectability in this world and within itself. I didn't have as much issue with McCain until he started changing ALL of his views and selling out to appease the "masses". McCain in 2000 was a far cry from this shell of a human running for POTUS in 2008. And I DO NOT like Palin and his choice of her took the little respect I Had for McCain and flushed it right down the toilet.

I understand we all have diff views in life and take a hard stance on what we believe in...but take being a Dem or Repub, religious beliefs, he said she said bullshtein of each candidate etc. to the side...I mean really to the side.

Can you honestly say in your heart of hearts that if McCain croaks (which has never been more relevant in a presidential election than now), you would be cool with Sarah Palin as the person you are looking at on your television addressing the nation if another attack/crisis happens...and be able to say, "Man...I am glad she is my leader in a time like this"?

I mean seriously.....I cant even.....

I'd be thinking the same thing as I always do when she's on the screen: Damn my penis would look nice between her legs

Did anyone see Palin talking in the Alaska's Governor Debate on CSpan from 2006?  She actually answered that she would take one of the other canidates to work with statistics because "He's super Awesome with Statistics"

This type of thing is nice to see every so often.

Yes, it's a big show, but it's still better than the constant bullshtein.

During your furious attacks on the opponent of the candidate you are a fan of...I asked you perfectly reasonable questions, which you ignored. Cerevant replied with polls and distorted facts about something irrelevant. And you went on with posting the latest findings on dailyblogkos.crap. You've don't nothing but repost the same 5 or 6 lines railing against Palin and how McCain isnt the same as he was in 2000 (uh...when he lost, why wouldnt he change his stance).

All this looks like to me, as an unaffiliated voter (someone, who I might add, that both campaigns should be targeting), is the liberals are in a panic over McCains strength in the polls, and instead of looking at your own party as to why they can not win an election when their opponent sided with the worst president in the last 30 years, they launch a relentless campaign of attacks.

Sure McCain/Palin are slinging mud as well...but at least they arent hiding behind their constituents in doing so.

the difference is there might be maybe two people better than biden for the job where as theres about 222 better than palin

I think this is more the difference.

There are only a few "righties" on this board, and outside of phillymic, I don't think any of us "hate" Obama or Biden.  We see things differently than the majority of the board, but we aren't hating from what I can tell.  Strange, coming from the right-wing hate-monger group.

This... though if this board were mostly right wingers you'd get the same in the other direction. It's just human nature. I'd probably argue the lefts point just to be contrary...  :paranoid

Relentless campaign of attacks? By the Democratic party? That's kind of backwards, Wingspan.  ???

And I didn't answer your question because Cerevant CLEARLY answered it. What more needed to be said.
