To a certain degree, yes. I spent a lot of time during the election trying to talk some of my further left friends into voting for Clinton even though she wasn't what we wanted.

But the super predator clip and all that shtein circling on twitter crushed her turnout and support among young black voters and young voters in general, not to mention the further left sects of the party.

I can only base this on anecdotal evidence, but they haven't seemed to learn their lesson yet. ANd, to be fair, it's not like the Democrats make it easy to vote for them. So much of the old guard is still stuck to Clintonian "3rd way" nonsense which made sense when the Republican Party and modern conservatism was at it's peak. Now that party is off the rails and your base is moving back to where they were pre-Reagan Revolution. But further lefties are already harping on things like how much Booker sucks for supporting charter schools while he was mayor, etc

trump had an inordinate amount of first time voters that couldnt get to the polls fast enough to vote for his racist and xenophobic message....to erase obamas legacy.....while its true if the same coalition that came out for barry had come out for hillary she might have won its also true that new voters and people who had previously sat out elections came out for trump and thats what put him over the top...particularly in places like pennsy ohio and wisky

to 2012 results, IGY is right about that...A lot of the deep red counties were turning out way more people than usual. Not highly populated but enough of them to make a big difference
