I'm not saying anything negative about Obama. Just saying that the Right wingnuts are using his speech to try and carry out a character assassination. I'm not really sure why my opinion based on what I've seen or heard today would threaten you or your opinion of Obama. I'm against what they're doing. Are we supposed to deny anything negative because you all support him and want him to win? You have to acknowledge the reality of the situation good or bad. Otherwise your just drinking the coolaide and have become no better then the right wingnuts on the other side who worship Rush and Hannity.

just listened to the speech today and i must say it was refreshing to see a politician talk to us like we are adults.

for the past 8 yrs ive become so numb to politics and especially presidential speeches because it seems like these idiots are trying to fool us, as if we are babies. for the most part i guess they are right. if obama loses this election because of this fiasco then it really shows how dumb the mass majority of americans are.

as for the speech itself...i liked how obama brought up the anger and resentmen minorities feel towards the majority ( be it race, class, gender, religion, or sexual orientation). i think often times its ignored as ignorant babble.

what wright said (the comments about AIDS) were way off base but some of his comments about 911 and about US policy were on point. there is some truth to his anger and the anger many feel even if he is comes across as a scary angry black man to white adults.

similarly since obama recognized this and acknowledged the root causes of this problem....if he is elected I HOPE he applies the same logic and understanding towards solving some of the foreign problems we are dealing with, mainly terrorism in the middle east and the Israeli Palestinian conflict. i hope he recognizes the same anger and resentment the region feels and that the anger is has some real roots and its not based on blind hate.

well you have to look at who is getting offended.

majority vs minority.

when white Christian spiritual guides, supporters, or backers say thing against gays, women, blacks and other minorities, or Muslims there is a small uproar but ultimately its brushed aside. because after the ppl being offended are the minority grp.

in this instance its the majority that is offended. never mind the fact that what wright said was not as vile as some of the anti immigrant, anti gay, anti Muslim, anti women, or anti black rhetoric you hear from the right....none of that matters...it only matters that it was directed towards the mass majority of the powers that be...aka the white male.

Well, you're wrong on both counts. Though I must admit it was one of the reasons for leaving (it can get pretty depressing there), though there were other reasons. In hindsight I actually wish I had stayed on to finish undergrad there. Perhaps easier said than done.
