I don't believe it is a coincidence that the domestic plywood manufacturers re-filed their anti-dumping lawsuit against Chinese plywood importers and manufacturers this week.

They filed back in 2013 originally and it was eventually dismissed.

Basically the Chinese hardwood plywood that hits the USA doesn't have certain duties and taxes on it. So it's a ton cheaper than domestic board. For example a sheet of 18mm birch will run you about $27-30 depending on grade. Comparatively the same domestic will run you 42-55. Sometimes the American board can reach close to $100 per sheet for species like alder and cherry.

Customers are going to bitch because we have to raise our prices like almost overnight when this happens. It's good for us because we make more. But people who have bid jobs get farged. Customers are already griping about Trump.

And I have two Mexican brothers as customers...they voted trump. Wtf.
