The "small government" thing that the right has been spewing in recent years is one of the most annoying political topics I've ever heard of.  Whenever I hear someone talking about how they love someone like Palin because she's in favor of smaller government, I just ask them to point to any period in the history of this country where the fed govt got smaller or voluntarily decided to limit it's power.  It's never happened and it will never happen. 

This gov't/country is just one big fat corporation.  Might as well call it the United States of America Inc.  And just like every other corporation in existence, the goal is to grow.  You don't see Wal Mart saying "eh, we're big enough now.  let's stop building stores."  Gov't got the same mindset.  Always has, always will.

theres a big difference between monetary and infrastructional growth and the growth of govt thru bathroom laws...people like paul ryan want to shrink govt to nothing on an institutional basis yet wants to pass as many morality laws as they possibly can...farg medicare and taxes for the rich that shtein is intrusive....but telling a women what she can do with her body or who is allowed to marry who is not

bill maher last week did a segment on how well California is doing compared to Kansas economy wise. a big part of it was about the taxes on the rich/corporations.

California - taxes the 1% more - now the 6th best economy in the world.
Kansas - had a big budget surplus. went back to the trickle down process. now the state is in major debt.

We were out in KS a couple weeks ago visiting squaw's family.  One night her mom was bitching about how Brownback ruined the state's economy and cut so much funding for schools and social programs.  Next day she was calling Bernie Sanders the devil.  Someone figure that one out for me, please.
