is mccain gonna catch the vapors over this....somehow i think not....my guess is that its just the black politicians that have to apologize and/or explain the actions of every black american

It's simple.  It wasn't radical pasty Christians that attacked the U.S. and killed thousands of Americans in the process.

I'm not going to pretend that black/white is not a factor in this, because it is.  But the religious basis of the endorsement is much more of a factor than the skin color.

did you watch the debate?.....russett grilled obama on farrakahns hate speech...not the fact that he was a muslim or a terrorist...and anyway this isnt the first time that blacks have been sent over the fire regarding farrakhan...this goes back before 9-11...for some reason all blacks get associated with him but whites on the right would never get questioned about the kkk supporting them

I suppose the problem has something to do with the perceived link of the Nation of Islam to civil rights or the black community in general.

That said, there have been no debates for Russert to grill McCain about getting endorsed by over-the-top religious zealots.  Naturally, more scrutiny falls on the contest at hand, and that's HRC vs. O.  McCain will get his later to a slightly lesser extent, in line with the fact there are more white Christians that watch TV than black Muslims.

Stallworth Supporter

OMG, Obama has Samuel L. Jackson on his side, now maybe Russert will grill him on his foul language loving supporters.

Farkin Russert was a douche...just like Chris Matthews.

I don't think any of this matters until Hillary releases tax returns.

It was fair to gauge his reaction on Farrakahn, but to make a big deal of the verbiage Obama chose to use to "reject" the endorsement was over-the-top ridiculous.

ice grillin you

you dont ask people in a debate questions about random americans and their views....barry has absolutely no connection to farrakhan whatsoever...the whole thing was bunk

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The nature of these debates has just allowed both candidates to give speeches.  This one was set up with no time limits and no particular rules, so the moderators pushed harder to try to get them to slip up.  Argue about the nature of it all you want, but it tested Obama much more than he has been in most debates, and he really answered the call quite well.

Cerevant

Obama staffer tells Canada that NAFTA bashing is just campaign rhetoric.  (Article notes that Hillary probably did the same)

Doh!
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Quote
On his campaign bus recently, Sen. John McCain told reporters, "I hated the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live." Although McCain said he was referring only to his prison guards, there are many reasons why his use of the word "gook" is offensive and alarming.

It is offensive because by using a racial epithet that has historically been used to demean all Asians to describe his captors, McCain failed to make a distinction between his torturers and an entire racial group.

It is alarming because a major candidate for president publicly used a racial epithet, refused to apologize for doing so and remains a legitimate contender.
