Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

i feel like this election cycle is really the last for the repubs

will they even have the votes in 4 years with their base rapidly dying?

will be much longer than that....we are now only at new borns being more minority than white.....next you have to have the shores and phillymics die off....then eventually we will get to the point where minority adults out number white adults....at that point you mave to get minorities to actually go out and vote...

all this adds up to the neanderthals being politically obsolete in around 2050

Wow. Tell me this, will you kill yourself if Romney wins the election? Please, let it be so.

If Romney wins it changes nothing.  Republicans are literally dying out.  It's the most hopeful thing going on in America.

the ironic thing being that if the republicans got what they wanted with SS/Medicare, they'd probably lower the life expectancy of their voters by a few years

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Thats ridiculous. You've never heard of the Young Republicans? In Obama town, the Chicago Young Republicans have increased their membership over 10 fold since 2008. You people live in your own little CF world. I guess if igy says it enough, it must be true.

rjs246

IGY didn't invent the statistical fact that old white people vote for the GOP or the fact that white people are becomig a smaller segment of the population. Young people, despite the *gasp* existence of young republicans and associated groups overwhelmingly vote democratic. Your understanding of cause and effect seems to be lacking. Just because a young republican group exists doesn't mean that young people are suddenly voting republican. They're trending the opposite way, in fact.

as well as citizens united
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Facts are not debatable.  Educate yourself:

http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/21/politics/gop-census-latino/index.html

and if these city slicker sources are too liburrul for you, here's conservative hero Pat Buchanan saying the same thing from a conservative media font:
http://townhall.com/columnists/patbuchanan/2012/05/18/has_the_bell_begun_to_toll_for_the_gop

QuoteNot only are whites declining as a share of the population, they are declining in real terms. Between 2010 and 2011, the number of births to white women fell 10 percent. The median age of white Americans, now 43 and rising, means that half of all white women have moved past the age that they are ever likely to bear more children.

White America is a dying tribe.

What do these statistics mean politically? Almost surely the end of the Republican Party as a national governing institution.

Republicans now depend on the vanishing majority for fully 90 percent of their votes in presidential elections, while the Democratic Party wins 60 to 70 percent of the Asian and Hispanic vote and 90 to 95 percent of the black vote.

The Democratic base is growing inexorably, while the Republican base is shriveling.

This can't be stated enough, but the Republican party used to be the fall back party you'd vote for when you were an independent voter. They've gone so far right that most moderates don't identify with them. The left has now become the party that moderates are turning too, what the right calls 'Socialism' or extreme left is just a party that's willing to move with the times. The Republicans stay stubborn in their ways and that's not appealing to most moderates. If the right was smart they'd look at America's needs first rather than continuing to tote the party line. I hate the 2 party system because there are some things I agree with the right on but I just can't identify with the majority of their idealogies.

I had a buddy of mine chastise me for supporting Obama last night.  I tried to explain my reasoning (difficult to do considering we were watching UFC at the time) but he didn't want to hear any of it.  As far as he's concerned the sooner Obama is out the better.

He's a registered Libertarian.  When I pointed out that Romney is absolutely the worst possible choice for a Libertarian, I basically got the "nuh uh" response.

He also works for the state government and I informed him that voting for Romney would be an example of voting against his own interests, I got this response: "I don't care.  I just want Obama out."

Amazing.  And very disturbing as well.

I didn't even know that you could register as a libertarian.

I ask people on the right this: What has he done that was so awful? I never get a straight answer...hardcore conservatives give me the foxnews answer of socialism and entitlements but what has he really done that was so awful? He inherited a depression and two wars. He didn't cause those two wars or depression.

I'm a registered Libertarian too but the libertarian movement has careened so far to the right, it's absurd.  Extremism is so pervasive in politics it's useless to even attempt to engage.  I'm too old and too dispirited to give a shtein anymore.  And honestly I can't remember the last time I voted for a Republican in a national race.  I voted for Charlie Crist in 2007 but he was a RINO.
