Finally got around to buying a bottle of Partida anejo tequila - been curious since IGY's posts last year about it and making margaritas.

I have a good liquor store down the road and a pretty knowledgeable lady there likes it a little more than the Patron anejo which for me is the gold standard, and the Partida is usually a couple of bucks more.

Very good stuff, enjoyed it straight up, but decided to do a head to head taste test with Patron anejo. Had the Patron reposado too, so I threw that in to the test for good measure.

The Partida and Patron are both very good but different. The Partida is brighter with more spicy flavor but the Patron is deeper, with a smooth rich oily feel. Total butta. And if out of the freezer it is as smooth as a $1k cognac.

Definite edge to Patron. But I discovered that drinking both is better than just one or the other. Any combo of tequilas that can make you pass out while standing up taking a piss and not falling over is totally worth paying the premium. Gold standard.

My buddy's friend from Cali was in town this weekend and buying shots of four horsemen all night...  Didn't realize there was a worse shot than Three wiseman until now.

Anyone ever soak lychees in booze?

I'd never had those things before Preakness weekend when a guest brought some to our party.  Seemed like they'd do well infused with rum or vodka.

I imagine that's because the water content is already so high that melon just doesn't soak up the booze readily?

Lychees might suffer the same problem...the are all water.
