Can we draft a running back in the first please?

Adrian Peterson would be nice.

Yes, let's get as many undersized injury-prone backs in "the mix" as possible.  Genius.

im figuring the eagles have two wins in them the rest of the year which puts them at 7-9....oddly enough there wasnt a single 7-9 team in the entire league last year but had there been it would have gotten you the 15th pick

The draft position this year should be pretty interesting, considering a large chunk of all NFL teams are hovering around the 4-6, 5-5, and 6-4 mark.

There is a lot of parity in the league this year. 18 out of the 32 NFL teams are between 4-6 and 6-4.

You're optimistic as hell.  With Garcia in there along with the 1. stupidity and 2. lack of heart/discipline this team plays with... I can see maybe Washington.  Anything else, they're going to have to pull something out of their asses.

I'd rather know that I am a fan of a mediocre team with a great Defense again (Buddy Ryan).  Rather Than Wonder if the Defense will show up and have such high expectations for an Offense.      A  great big hellacious Full Back!  That's what Dallas and New York got to try and beat the Eagles.

Then we need Linebackers, so that these young Dline guys can learn the trade.  Right now while they are learning...they got no back-up.  The linebackers we have now are running right into the same blockers they are.  We need a Seth Joyner type or two!  Whatever happened to the 2ndary?  2-3 years agg they were all ProBowlers.  Now they have completely fallen of.  Considine has been the one and only bright spot, playing hard every game and making open field tackles.

Wonderful.  What'll be 2 years of getting our asses handed to us and we still won't land a top 10 pick.

We can't even be zesty right.

The scarier thing is at 5-5, we're the 7th team in the NFC. Right now our record is better 9 other teams in the NFC.

Luckily for us, Jeff Garcia won't make it to 8 wins, and 7 is a far stretch. AJ might be able to get us 8 wins...but that's assuming Reid runs the ball. Hah. I think with us on the decline and other teams on the rise like Miami, KC, Pittsburg...we'll end up picking around the 13th slot.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

This is the thing that I am slowly coming to realize... the draft won't even matter this year so I literally have NOTHING to look forward to. We already know what Andy Reid is going to do. We know it without a shadow of a doubt.

- He's going to 'build from the inside out' with 'high character' players who will 'come in and compete'.
- He will not put a high priority on WR, RB or LB in spite of that fact that these are glaring needs (assuming, as I do, that Stallworth will not resign).
- He will not put a high priority on run-stopping defensive linemen because they wouldn't get any reps in practice against the Eagles' offense.
- He won't put a high priority on offensive skill players who can block because he doesn't believe in TEs or FBs who can actually run-block. Who needs them when you never run?

He'll draft DEs and OLs early. Maybe a QB and RB in the middle rounds. Maybe a LB or two to go with the OL 'project' players late. We'll have a team full of Scott Youngs once again and once again this team will not win a Superbowl.

farging wonderful.

Tapeh has been servicable as a blocker this year....but Reid seems to love not using a lead blocker on his running plays. Blah.

Drafting a DE early isn't a bad idea this year, considering Kearse may be gone, Howard is getting old, and Cole/J. Thomas have shown they need help and need to be rotated more to be more effective. Then again, Cole just needs someone else to eat the double teams he's been seeing since Kearse went down.

I think they'll draft DE/LB/QB first three rounds. Throw WR in there in the 2nd or 3rd if Stallworth doesn't resign.

The draft class at LB this year, if I'm not mistaken, is a little bit deeper then usual. I can always hope we land a pick high enough to get the whitey LB from PSU....but I don't follow college football that much, so for all I know he could have the makings to be another PSU bust.

im figuring taterskins as a possibility and then a late season garbage win in a game that doesnt matter for either team...atlanta?...even dallas are possibilities under that scenario

Howard is getting old

this made me laugh and cry at the same time....so why did they sign an old guy to a monster deal

yeah thats exactly what they need another awful white linebacker...poz would go perfect along side that scab mccoy

IGY if you ever even watched a PSU game, you would not think that Poz is going to be a bust.  He had another outstanding season this year and that was coming off a pretty significant knee injury.  That being said if Reid is still in charge (which he will be) they would not draft a WLB that early in the draft.

My only real hope is that they lose out and have a shot at landing Calvin Johnson, though he could be the top pick in this years draft.

its possible that he could be a solid middle linebacker but thats it and the eagles need beasts at the outside spots which poz cannot play in the nfl...the last thing they need is some solid guy with a 'high motor' mucking it up in the middle fo the field with offensive guards

poz is slow, slow, slow, like IGY said, he has a chance to play middle

but we all know that they won't sign a high impact OLB, no matter what guys like Shawn Merriman or Bart Scott show they can do for a defense
