The Eagles' plan was to use former Giants corner William James, their biggest player at that position, against his former teammate, 6-5 wideout Plaxico Burress. But James felt a pop in the pregame warmup that turned out to be a calf strain, and Rod Hood suddenly was thrown into the breach.

"I was doing some 'W' drills, I didn't have cleats on - W drills are something a corner does, backpedal and break forward. I went to break forward and I felt a pop. I felt like somebody hit me in my calf. I turned around; I thought it was either a player, or somebody threw something out of the stands," James said. "I turned around and I didn't see anything. It was hard to walk after that. They put me in a boot... we'll see. Hopefully, I can get back... we don't play again until Monday."

James said he spent about half an hour with Hood before the game, then stuck in his two cents' worth every chance he got during the game, to Hood and anyone else who would listen.

Update...Buck has a CALF strain, not a knee strain.

Juqua Thomas has a calf spasm.

Andy says not bad.

I thought I saw Buck grabbing his calf and not his knee.

Buck got hurt on the 1st drive didn't he?  I know it was no later than the 2nd drive.

Sucks that he got hurt... but he is indeed a backup and you can't fault Andy for him still being in the game.


Hopefully, he's ready to go next week.
