I pretty much cut splenda out. The only time I use it is in the morning when I eat my oatmeal and I use a teaspoon along with some cinnamon. Previously I was using it on the oats and in my protein shakes.

I took a couple months off from working out. Mostly because of my schedule. But I ramped it back up to get rid of the final 25 that I want to lose. I hope to be 225 by July.

The good news was that during the no workout period I did not gain a pound. I ate pretty healthy but allowed myself pizza and things like that on occasion. Now its strict diet time again and honestly, I missed this.

Christian Bale on working out for his role as Patrick Bateman for American Psycho, released in 2000:

"The character is so vain and obsessed with his looks. While the psychology of the character was something that I could perform, you can't fake the physicality. Being English, I tend to enjoy going down to the pub far more than going to the gym, so it was very unnatural for me. I just had to convince myself that I loved it, which was the most difficult thing about playing this part. Working out is incredibly boring. I swear it's true that the bigger your muscles get, the fewer brain cells you have. I found I had to stop thinking when I was in the gym because if I thought about it, I'd realize how ridiculous it was that I was pumping iron when I could've been out having a drink and a cigarette and enjoying some lunch."

That interview is from when that movie was released, unless he's recycling material in his current interviews...

oh, I don't claim it's new..it's new to me and I just liked it

It's true though, I find working out to be boring. But at the same time if I don't do it I feel like a slacker. I joined the Y down here because I needed more to do than what my apartment fitness center has to offer. As boring as it is the results are addictive.

Munson

I think when you first start out, it can get boring....but as you build up weight and get stronger, it's pretty fun (IMO anyway) to challenge yourself with a weight you've never done before.
Especially when squatting.

But the first few weeks getting back into the routine are boring because you're doing light ass weights and it hurts like a bitch.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Joined up to a local gym (Body Dynamics) this morning. Did 35 minutes of cardio and a little bit of weights. A year and a half ago I was doing 8-10 reps of 80-90 lbs. dumbells. I struggled with 70 for 8 this morning but it's been a year and a half so I haven't lost too much strength. I really just want to get my fat ass back down to 200 lbs.

Anyone ever done a Keto diet?

I am getting after it hard again because I want to get down to 225 finally. After fargin off for a year (I can't believe its been a year already) and maintaining the 252-255 weight, I want to get 30 off.

But the diet I did in 2007 was very strict and very boring. I'm lookin to switch it up a bit.

I'm steady at 210, working for a living, consuming whatever I want.  If that doesn't work for you then you want to consume too much.  Decrease the eating.

I did that for the past year and maintained at this weight. But I want to get 30 more off and then I'll go back to eating and drinking whatever I want and stay at 225 and be happy.

I was happy to drop all the weight and be 250. Now I want more.

Thats been my problem. You eat and drink too much and you can't work it off. Draft beer along with meat and potatoes kills me. I absolutly love it though.  Sit ups and crunches are getting harder and harder too do as I get farther past 40. I have no problem with curling, and bench presses , but now, my 17 year old son can do twice as many situps as I, and it's starting to show on me.

He's going in the Navy and I'm losing my workout partner, which will make it boring as shtein. I'll prolly' end up a beer bellied couch potato.

Ever try cross fit? My uncle teaches classes on it and people swear by it. It's only a 20 minute workout but you're dead afterwards. It's a great combination of weights and cardio.
I'm in the 220 range, plan was to get down to 200-205 range and start Brazialian Jiu Jitzu. Was getting up at 5 every morning and going to the gym. Lost about 10 lbs. in the first 3 weeks. Then I hurt my back and was stricken in bed for a week. Haven't been back to the gym since because of the pain. I'm hoping I'm able to go back in a week or two.

Rome

I've been doing light cardio and strength training 2-3 times per week for the past year.  Haven't gained anything and haven't lost anything either.  Meh - I'm 43 years old and don't give a shtein if I look good anymore anyway.  Just trying to maintain some semblance of health as I march ever closer to death.

Good enough.

I'm about 215 pounds right now.  If I ate better and increased the cardio I'd be down to 200 again in a few weeks, but really, why bother?

Nope, but it looks interesting.

On the site they have a place listed here in Houston pretty close to home and work. I may have to check it out. Have you done it?
