Quotebut like i said, the pack was only part of it.  there was your kevlar vest, your weapon, canteens, magazine/w ammo, kevlar helmet, etc, etc.  all that shtein added up.  a full combat load was probably in the area of 150 lbs.

you have got to be kidding me? props to you son

Sgt PSN

yeah.  and at the time i only weighed about 155-160 so i was nearly doubling my body weight.  i'd say that for me personally, with the gear that i'd pack, i was only adding about 100 extra pounds.....most of them cigarettes.

Im just picturing myself carrying (2) 45lbs plates and a 10 lb'er on my back then taking a stroll uphill in the rain....bwhaha.

i'm still extremely sore.   every muscle in my body is seriously cramped up right now and most of my joints feel like they're being stabbed with ice picks.   fortunately, i don't work out with weights very much so i have very few actual muscles.  but the ones i do have hurt.  a lot.  i can also feel my heart beat in my knees.  tomorrow is going to be rough.  just gotta fake it long enough to walk from my car to my office.  then i'll pull down the shade on my window and collapse.

So, you're hoping there's no call for a rematch at lunch?

Drunkmasterflex

I read a good article on P90X it was saying if you aren't in shape it is a good thing.  Basically because it is having you do things your muscles have never done.  They said after you do it a few times though it is time to move on.

surprisingly, i wasn't nearly as sore this morning as i thought i'd be.....especially in the knees and back.  they don't feel any worse than any other normal day.  so that's good.

the downer though is that i'm pretty sure i pulled my groin.  not too bad because it didn't bother me at all while playing but after a couple hours last night it started hurting a little and this morning it hurt quite a bit.  we're working this weekend and some of the guys said they wanted a rematch on saturday.  ain't gonna happen though.  i told them i have important meetings to go to but i'm pretty sure i'm going to lay on the couch in my office and sleep instead.

still a little sore but decided to go for a short run today.  spent a good 20 minutes stretching before my legs felt lose enough to run.  jogged a mile and a half in about 10 minutes.  then spent another 20 minutes doing some cool down stretches.

workout summary:

40 minutes stretching
10 minutes running

probably the least productive hour of my life.

rjs246

I ran three miles at a 6:38 second pace this morning (which is only impressive in the context of my old man legs) then did yard work all day and forgot to eat lunch. Rather than just wanting to die, I think this might actually lead to me dying. Whoops.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

that's faster than i get around anymore.  that's also faster than roughly 60% of marines 23yrs old and under.  nice job.  i'm in the 23-24min range.  i could easily get myself back down to about 20min in about 4 weeks if i went out and ran 3x a week.  but i have more important shtein to do.  like smoke cigarettes.

hbionic

I'm squatting a girlie 155 lbs (2-45's, 2-10's, 45 lbs bar)....my goal is 225 lbs. by the end of April.

I've always had the dream of touching the 10 ft rim...I guess this is just as good a time as any...I used to be able to touch it with the tip of my fingers back in highschool before I knew what weights were. I'm starting to play basketball up to 3 times a week. I suck at running and don't have the mental stamina to run like Rusty does.

Anyways, yes, I'm a Hoyda...but soon I'll be a beast (once I start working out my upper body).

wanting to jump 70lbs in less than 2 months is pretty ambitious.  luckily your starting point is so low that if you show any consistency in your workout regimen at all, it's a pretty attainable goal.

in other words, you're a hoyda.

Okay so I've heard a lot of good things about P90x.  Has anyone here tried it and for anyone who knows about it as my main goal is muscle gain is this something I should stay away from or is this good at adding muscle as well as losing fat?
P90X is okay.  I agree that once you really get in good shape, you have have probably progressed beyond their workout.  The best thing about it is it gives you a bunch of different workouts that you wouldn't do on your own.  Like the pylometrics, which was new to me and a good workout.
