Funny - I had a guy who has run multiple marathons that was going on about how swimming isn't all that different from any of the other "cardio" sports. I challenged him to swing by the pool, and he was toast after about twenty minutes.

I was on the swim team all through elementary school and junior high, but quit the team in high school for football and because swimming is farging dumb.

I'm back on that diet with some slight variances. Instead of having a cheat day gorge-fest I limit myself to one bad meal. I'm down 15 lbs. since New Years. My diet looks like this:
Mornings:
5 servings of egg whites
3 turkey sausage links
coffee

5 Servings of egg whites...what determines how many servings, is it some protein intake target or just your appetite? My friend does six every morning which prompted me to ask. Oh, and I guess its a liquid? Just odd to me the concept of egg whites, but it seems like the way to go.

I buy the liquid whites that come in the carton. Each carton has 20 servings, I go through one carton in 4 days. It's only 100 calories  per 5 servings and it's pure protein. A large protein meal is a must for mornings, it gets your body up and burning fat and curbs your appetite for later in the day.
I cut coffee out of my diet altogether. I was drinking decaf as it is so I won't miss the caffeine. I was using 3 servings of creamer per cup and I'd have two cups a day which equates to 200 bad calories. I cut that out and I save 1400 calories a week.

I'm going to go to the Y and see what they're going to charge me for a membership. If I recall right they base it off your monthly gross salary but not sure of the formula of how they calculate.

They have a pool and its within walking distance of my place

2 reasons why i continue to drink coffee on my diet is it is a natural burner raising the metabolism. it not by much by any means, but with all the other good stuff i eat all day it contributes. not to mention it stunts the appetite which is another bonus.

always skim milk and a little sugar im good to go

Do you live near a Planet Fitness? It's $10 a month and no contract.

PhillyPhreak54

Yeah not too far but the opposite way from my office and house. I used them back in PA - I went to the one over in Frazer and it was good.

I use 24hr now but I want a pool to start the swimming

My room mate uses LA Fitness but it's $30 a month. He swims the shtein out of their pool.

PhillyPhreak54

I pay about the same for 24hr but there isn't a pool.

I just don't wanna pay 85-90 for the Y.

Swimming is good exercise, but I'm a little jaded since I had to wear a speedo when I swam.

With the Company discount, I could get a membership at Gold's for thirty-five bones a month but that place looks like a douchebag factory.

The Y's near me are about $50 a month for a single person membership and 80-90 for a family.

Just had my first at home egg whites, and just as I suspected: they tasted like eggs. I did 5 servings, and its like the equivalent of two regular sized eggs.

What's the consensus on egg substitute?

Like liquid egg whites?  I love them.  Been using them for about 2 or 3 years now.  I still eat regular eggs every now and then, but for the most part I stick to egg whites. And I'm cheap, so I buy the generic store brand instead of the name brand stuff.  Practically the same nutritional values, a lot less money.

Same. I eat 4 servings a day. To me they taste exactly the same as eggs do with yolk only the whites are healthier.
