What a difference a year can make in a year in the NFL. The Saints who were 3-13 last year are off to a great start. The Saints are now 5-1 and the Eagles are 4-2.

Eagles made to many mistakes in this game that kept them from winning. Offensive line didn't give McNabb the protection he needed. The receivers dropped balls that should have been caught. McNabb over threw on several pass plays. A muff on a punt that allowed the Saints to score. But the icing on the cake came on 3-10 at he Eagles 35 yard line. Darren Walker came around the corner and sacked Drew Brees for 7 yards driving them back to the Eagles 42 yard line and out of field goal range. Oh but wait there is a flag on the play, what's that you say the Eagles had 12 men on the field. Isn't that illegal? Yeah that's what I thought. The refs knew it was illegal also. A 5 yard penalty was marked off and no play meaning it was now 3-5 from the Eagles 30. Next play Brees threw a 7 yard pass to Mark Campbell leaving the ball at the Phila. 23 yard line. From there if your an Eagles fan your heart just sank because you knew this game was over.

The defense played poorly if not terrible much of the game. Michael Lewis in the backfield continued to play poorly and his position in the starting line up may be in jeopardy. In the press conference following the game Andy Reid was asked if Consadine would be replacing Lewis in the defensive backfield Reid answered "we'll see".

The offense played poorly in the first half, Hank Baskett dropping several deep thrown balls that came his way as well as other recivers dropping balls that shoudl have been caught.

The offense finally got it moving in the second half scoring 21 unanswered points. On the first drive of the second half it took and the Eagles 3 plays to get back into the game when McNabb threw to Reggie Brown who made a beautiful run after the catch for a 60 yard TD play.

The Eagles held the Saints on their next position. Once Phila. got the ball you could feel the momentum had changed and Phila was going to score again. Which they did 9 plays later on a 4 yard pass from McNabb to LJ Smith into the end zone. Eagles 17 Saints 17.

Saints got the ball back after the kick on their own 23 yard line. On 3rd down and 15 from the Saints 18 yard line Brees dropped back into the shotgun and threw the ball to Marques Colston, the ball was tipped put of Colston's hand into darren Walkers who returned the interception Saints 15 yard line.  Next play Reggie Brown came from right to left to take a handoff from McNabb and scampered into the end zone giving the Eagles their first lead of the day. Eagles 24 Saints 17.

From there the Eagles fell apart. Just 5 plays later Drew Brees threw a deep pass for 48 yards to Joe Horn for a TD. Michael Lewis who was covering Horn is still looking to see were Horn went. Lewis was beat badly on the play. This play and others like it this season may have him sitting on the bench while the Eagles give Consadine a shot at Lewis's position.

Eagles got the ball back one more time in the half but were unable to move it downfield deep enough to get into scoring position. The saints got the ball back and then came the icing on the cake. Which I don't need to go into again.

The Eagles made way to many mistakes to win this game. They won't win games like this or any other games this year with this type of performance. Eagles this year except for last week seem to be only able to play one half of a game. Just so many times you can do that before it comes back to bite you, well you know where.

we don't need a recap of the game.  we all watched it.

I would go so far as to say it's time for Jim Johnson to go.

i've been saying that since the superbowl. johnson isnt very effective anymore. nor has he been for 1.5 seasons now.

Look up a few post and you'll see not all watched the game. I put the recap in for people didn't get to see the game and also it has my opinions on why we lost. I guess were not allowed to do that according to you.

In the off chance that I'm right, it means you're not right.

It sure seems that way, whatever happened in the second half of the SB seemed to have exposed.

Lewis is an embarrassemnt in coverage. Not much doubt about that. And Jones was his usual invisible self. Hey, let's get Lewis to play SLB and send Jones packing. Sure, I'm kidding.... :paranoid

Well, at least JJ agrees:

QuoteStrong safety Mike Lewis, who played well against the taterskins in a dime role lining up as a linebacker, did not seem interested in defensive coordinator Jim Johnson's assessment that Lewis could convert to full-time linebacker down the road. "I'm not a linebacker and we have capable guys here to play [linebacker]," Lewis said. He agreed that the experience was a useful one. Lewis will be an unrestricted free agent after the season...

Mike Lewis is, obviously, a moron.

I guess the team needs to get more DB's in the draft next year.

Munson

He should convert to full time LB. He'd be a fast LB, but still strong with a big body. THe problem is I don't think he has the size to play SLB, which is where we need help. McCoy has done well this year in the WLB role. Lewis has good size for a WLB, but SLB's usually need to be a little heavier.

Of course this is all for nothing since he doesn't want to play LB. He's a dumbass though, he'd probably do much better in that role.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

No, but he's going to want it, which is enough to turn the Pats away.

I personally kind of hope he ends up in Washington.

Yeah, when the taterskins sign him to be their third All-Pro safety.
