he 'sucks' because the best he can ever be in this league is a possible possesion/red zone guy...and even that is far from certain

hes an undrafted guy who is only on the team because pinky couldnt play and he was the best avaible option...ill give him credit for being better than justin jenkins but in the end the best thing hell have ever done is allowed the eagles to get rid of billy mcmullen

I'm just saying he must not be as bad as you seem to think he is.

and youre saying that because he had one catch vs dallas....which is ridiculous...i dont feel any different about him because of that catch nor do i think worse of him because he is going to have 25 catches

As I "predicted" (I know you love that word), his numbers have gone up with the increase in looks since Stallworth got hurt.

thats means nothing...i can predict next year in training camp that there is a great chance they draft a wr better than him or avant passes him...and he doesnt even make the team

Well as long as we're talking about that one play, wouldn't THAT be the best thing he's ever done for the Eagles thus far in his career?

But then again, I forgot, you never pick the Eagles to win. :-X

And I think he's been proving that he's more then a "red-zone" guy. And possession recievers don't suck...just ask MeShawn, or McCardell, or Joe Jurevicious, or Wayne Chrebet, eetc...

I'll take a guy who can run good routes and get open and be a possession guy. I think eventually Jason Avant will be battling him for the #3 job, but as of right now he's played well, and it shouldn't matter how "bad" you think he'll be in 3 years. If he's playing well now, what's the difference?

Oh, that's right...he's not playing well. Nope, not stepping up and producing more in increased time with our top option injured.  :yay

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Well, I don't think Reggie sucks...but he hasn't really impressed me this year.  I was expecting fewer dropped passes and better routes run.  He's okay, but I thought he'd be better.

Agree. Well, I think his routes have been fine (besides coming back to the ball/QB, that mistake needs to be cut out) but the dropped balls are....ugh. I think the coaches should just have he and McNabb stand 5 yards away from each other and just McNabb gun the ball right at this face. He'll learn how to catch better, or he'll need a new face.

Let me try to say this again, please read...

I'm not saying he isn't bad because of one catch. I'm saying he isn't bad because he has produced more and more each game, especially as his looks have increased. It just so happens that part of that production was a 80+ yard TD catch where he made the Cowboys FS his personal bitch, twice in one play. First by burning him and then slapping away his tackle like it was nothing.

I'm sorry if that's the mark of a bad WR or something. :boom

he averages 2 catches per start and 1.5 when he doesnt start

crazy numbers kid

again youre clearly overly excited because of his one catch...and i understand that...it was a huge play...enjoy it...but it means nothing in terms of how good of a wr baskett is or will be...

in closing...

Clearly he's more productive when he starts.  Stallworth is averaging 0 catches in games that Baskett starts.  With those #'s don't be surprised if Stallworth comes in off the bench when he's healthy.

Im not going to debate the future of Hank Baskett, but I think it is interesting to see where he compares to other rookie WR's who were taken in the draft:

player,  receptions, Yards, TD's,  +20 yard plays

1.  Santonio Holmes: 7, 73, 0, 0
2.  Chad Jackson: 4, 51, 1, 1
3. Sinorice Moss: 1, 4, 0, 0
4. Greg Jennings:  20, 364, 3, 8
5. Travis Wilson: 0, 0, 0, 0
6. Derek Hagan: 2, 31, 0, 0
7. Brandon Williams:  0,0,0,0
8. Maurice Stovall: 0,0,0,0
9. Willie Reid:  0,0,0,0
10. Brad Smith: 3,5,0,0
11. Cory Rodgers:  0,0,0,0
.
.
.
Hank Baskett:  7,172, 1, 3
Marques Colston:  23,374,3,6

So Far, Baskett has outperformed just about all rookie WR's other than Greg Jennings and Marques Colston.

edit: added Colston.

SunMo

don't forget Marques Colston

yes, and Marques Colston the phenom.

There is a lot of speculation that is going on. And, yeah, I agree, random facts tell you nothing. What you need to do is apply facts to frameworks to derive some sort of reasoned conclusion.

If someone says someone sucks, and the other person says someone is great -- you are simply making a value judgment. Unless you substantiate those claims you've gotten nowhere. Even worse is when someone says someone sucks because they are bad -- plain circular reasoning.

Eh, it's become readily apparent that it's not worth talking about statisical breakdowns because too many people endulge in hyperbole.

So I guess the extent of the debate should just stick to OMGG!! THE EAGLES ARE AWSUM!! LOL!

Or OMMG! THE EAGLES ARE HORRIBELL! HIGHLIGHT VIDEOS ARE KEWL! XOMVCG

How about discussing how appropriate "Punk Bitch" is as TO's new moniker? Statistically speaking of course...
