QuoteThe Seahawks lost reigning MVP Shaun Alexander indefinitely after X-rays revealed a small crack in his left foot.

   Alexander

Alexander missed two days of practice last week because of the foot injury believed to have been sustained during a tackle in the Arizona Cardinals game in Week 2. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, who announced the injury Monday, wasn't sure which part of Sunday's game against the Giants that Alexander suffered further injury to the foot.

Holmgren said he isn't sure how long Alexander will be out but it's possible he could miss a month. Holmgren said Alexander's injury is a non-displaced fracture of the foot.

"You lose the MVP for a while, it's a hit," Holmgren said. "Let's face it, he's the MVP. We're not going to sugarcoat it."

Maurice Morris will be the starter in Alexander's absence. The Seahawks have a bye week following Sunday's game against the Bears in a matchup of 3-0 teams.

Alexander rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown in Seattle's 42-30 victory over the New York Giants.

Can't say I'm surprised. We all knew it was coming.

My boy is going to hate me. I just snagged Morris and I am the first one in the waiver priority. Owned. I should have done it sooner to make him pay for not drafting his stud RBs backup.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I thought he got hurt in the last or second last game of the season.

He did (get hurt in the 2nd to last game)... and the Ravens missed the playoffs too.

I knew I should have taken LT in my fantasy draft.

I'd never take Alexander over Tomlinson...in any year.  He's just too much of a mixed bag.  The fact you do it at all is questionable...the fact you did it the year Alexander is on the cover of Madden is inexplicible. ;)

Seahawks | Alexander may play in Week 4
Wed, 27 Sep 2006 09:41:45 -0700

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander (foot) may be able to play during Week 4 after all. He is crediting the power of prayer for possibly healing the cracked bone in his left foot. His left foot stopped hurting Tuesday, Sept. 26, and Alexander plans to undergo additional tests Wednesday, Sept. 27. An MRI earlier in the week showed a small crack; if that has cleared up, it's conceivable he could play this week.

Power of prayer?

Now I've heard it all.  I hope he doesn't play, because I was going to bench him against Chicago in my money league anyway, and he'll have the bye week after that to complete a recovery.  Here's to hoping for a triumphant return to fantasy football greatness for Shaun Alexander in week 6.  Maybe I'll pray for that.

Yeah, him and his Jesusfreak foot bone have farged my money league.

I have him, Gore, Mike Bell and Cadillac.

Cadillac and Bell have a bye. I have to pick up a RB this week and put in for Mo Morris. We only get one waiver claim per week.
