I don't see the Eagles offering a first for him, and that is what I would consider serious for Deion Branch.  That being said I am a huge Branch fan and have been since his first year and I would absolutely cream my pants if he were to ever come to this team.  But I am 99.9% sure it won't happen.

No way is he worth a 1st rounder.

Pats LBs need help. They signed Seau for chrissakes.

Simoneau + 3rd is my first offer.

:-D, Sims is does not at all fit their system.  I am not really sure he is worth a first, but definately a second.  If Walker is worth a second no doubt Branch is IMO.  At least a second is the only way he gets traded to any team.

Greg Lewis is a good excuse to not sign/tradefor/consider any other WRs.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

i hady me some baja Fresh for lunch today. Few hours later I braided some fecal rope, and the larger plop looked just like a scalled down verson of G Lew... with some munched up beans on his face. I wriggled off a wee dinkle, and as it landed in such a way that it looked like Poo Lew was stretching out to make the grab.

G Lew had a good night tonigt.

QuoteEagles Notes | Branch could fill need for receiver

Eagles Notes

Eagles fans in August are a lot like toddlers in December.

They both have long wish lists that constantly are changing.

Today's hot item is Deion Branch, the wide receiver who was granted permission by the New England Patriots yesterday to negotiate a new contract with another team for the purpose of working out a trade.

So the obvious question in these parts: Are the Eagles interested?

The answer is maybe.

A league source said yesterday that the Eagles' interest in Branch is about the same as it was in Ashley Lelie, the wide receiver who was sent from Denver to Atlanta in a three-team trade earlier this week.

The Eagles, according to the source, believe that Branch is a better player than Lelie, but they aren't sure he's worth what he's seeking from the Patriots. The source said that Branch had rejected a five-year deal worth $33 million and a three-year deal worth $18.7 million.

Branch, 27, is in the final year of a five-year deal that he signed after New England selected him in the second round of the 2002 draft. His base salary for this season is $1.05 million.

In a statement released by the Patriots, the team said Branch has until Friday to seek a deal elsewhere. The statement did not say what happens if Branch is unable to work out a contract with another team, but the league source said that the Patriots' intent may be to let the wide receiver look elsewhere because they are confident he will not get a better deal than the contracts they have offered.

Any trade like this is difficult to execute because even if Branch finds a team that satisfies his demands, the same team also must satisfy the Patriots' trade demand.

For Eagles fans, the most vivid memory of Branch's ability is not a fond one. Branch tied a Super Bowl record with 11 catches in the Patriots' win over the Eagles two seasons ago.

Despite that outstanding game, he is not considered to be among the elite receivers in the NFL. He has never had 1,000 yards receiving in a single season, although he came close last year when he caught 78 passes for 998 yards, both of which were career highs. He also had a career high last season with five touchdowns.

For his career, he has caught 213 passes for 2,744 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Eagles' interest in Branch could depend on how they feel about Todd Pinkston. Last night, the veteran receiver made his first appearance since that Super Bowl loss to New England after sitting out the first three games because of sore Achilles tendons. Pinkston, of course, missed last season after he ruptured his right Achilles tendon in camp.

Pinkston had one catch for 4 yards. If he isn't ready, the Eagles probably will open the year with Reggie Brown, in just his second season, and rookie Hank Baskett as their top two receivers unless they obtain someone from outside the organization.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady badly wants Branch back and has grown tired of talking about his disgruntled teammate.

"It's so labored for the players and for me talking about it," Brady told reporters in New England. "Hopefully, this situation comes to an end."

Dirk holds

Punter Dirk Johnson held instead of quarterback Koy Detmer for kicker David Akers on a 40-yard field goal in the first quarter last night.

For Jeff Garcia to be the No. 2 quarterback once the regular season starts, Johnson would have to be the holder. Detmer has been Akers' holder his entire career with the Eagles, but it seems likely that Johnson will take over that role this season.

Extra points

Defensive end Jason Short got into a shoving match with former Eagles receiver Sean Morey on an Akers kickoff that went through the end zone late in the first quarter. Earlier in the week, Short said Morey is one of his best friends in football... . Running back Reno Mahe left the game with a sprained ankle. He will be evaluated today... . The Eagles are off today and tomorrow but are likely to make their first cuts of the preseason. The roster must be reduced to 65 by Tuesday. The final 53-man roster must be set by a week from today.

It'd be nice for them to get this one done.

Branch is not a #1 WR though. Him and Reggie would make a very nice tandem however.

His career high in TDs is 5 (last year)
He did have 78 catches for 998 yards [12.8] last year
He only has 5 40+ yard catches in his career

And the Pats run a similar spread-it-around offense. Not similar as far as being a WCO but they share the ball a lot.

What he rejected is no big deal, IMO. Most of those numbers are horseshtein anyways. It's what he rejected in guaranteed money thats the issue.

Branch
Brown
Baskett

Nice.
