I've said before, I'm a Cold War Kid.  Love anything russian, whether its movies, tv, porn, or guns. 

I'll give it a spin, i think its on Amazon prime.

Hannibal isn't normally a genre I'm interested in but it's on the list because I've heard good things from tons of people so far.

as i mentioned i love the premise...i just cant stand the cast...and the acting is average at best...its like sitcom actors or an alternate cast of bones trying to mesh with dark cold war era themes and storylines and it just doesnt work for me

its not a perfect show by any means...too many hallucination scenes imo...and its certainly not for everyone as its not an easy watch but its expertly made and i love all the little connections it has to the movies...i dont think the show will make it there because its viewership is so low and its not cheap but next season would be the red dragon era

From the previews for the upcoming season, it looks like both Dinklage and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau are gonna get to show off some acting chops this season. I thought Dinklage was kind of pushed to the background a bit too much in Season 3, but I guess there were some obvious plotline reasons for that.

recently rewatched the sopranos....its easily a top 5 all time show but comparing it to the wire can summed up thusly:

in the sopranos they decided in the middle of season 5 to make vito gay. for 4 seasons he was a cold, quiet, distant obese mobster. then randomly hes cheerful and sunny, cracking jokes, much louder and brighter. later in the episode hes blowing someone.

in the wire rawls is always saying sexually graphic things. for 3 seasons. hes unmarried and in his 50s. one episode hes shown at a gay bar. he then continues to act in the same manner.

so you have similar storylines...one was planned from the start. the other hastily put together in the middle of the shows run.
