But who will take care of his mineral collection?

BB has been more about show than about realism...its why its so popular. because you get scenes like the nazis getting smoked and gus getting his face blown off and the severed head on the tortoise. none of things would take place in reality based reality.

but they are cool and fun and awesome to see and therefore took place on this television show, a fictional television show, where a mild mannered middle aged man becomes a ruthless meth producer. another realistic endeavor.

it was fun now its over time to move on
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Never. This was a life changing experience and I'm going to be an even bigger icehole by talking about it constantly.

It's like you're an Irani defending the honor of your virgin sister.

The Wire was a good show.  Nothing more and nothing less.  Take the little fella's advise and get over it.

Season 5 of the Wire was absolutely horrible. There were a couple of decent scenes and the ending montage was really well done but I've basically erased it from my Wire thoughts.

I actually love the show.   But the non stop wire fellating in this forum is really annoying.  This instance is on me because I chose to point out Todd's incredible display of cognitive dissonance, but still...

thats cause its the worst wire season and the wire is so astromically good that you think its worse than it is...that season is a victim of the shows own greatness...but if you watched it a few more times you would see that its still better than any single season of any other tv show ever made and its not close

actually its not...sopranos s1 and BB s4 were probably better structured and delivered than s5 of the wire.

in fact i think was george pelecanos who admitted in the tv book i just read that the writers were basically burned out after s4 and didnt feel they could do any better than they just did. plus, ed burns left production early on to go oversee generation kill, which left david simon alone with nobody to tell him he was being a farging lunatic.

david and ed didnt have an amazing relationship but they obviously worked very well together. once ed left, it was david alone and hes a raging egomaniac genius self righteous liberal....and the results showed

I'd probably split the difference between igy's viewpoint and popular sentiment.  I enjoyed the last season of BB, but contrary to the opinions of almost every critic and person I've read, don't think it's some unqualified masterpiece.  It was fairly predictable the entire last season & I found the conclusion to be somewhat contradictory to what I thought the narrative of the show was to that point.  I actually think the show peaked somewhere between season 3 & season 4 (from the last scene of season 3 through the trip to Mexico probably).

That being said, I enjoyed (and think there's an argument objectively) that stretch as much/more than season 5 of The Wire.  I don't think the peak reaches The Wire peak or the series as a whole does, but I think there are parts of BB that are as good/better than stretches of The Wire.

this is all ignoring the best show on tv anyway.  winter is coming)
