granted i havent seen the 2nd ep yet, but lets just say my expectations of treme have risen considering star wars boy and the tag team legends of reese and cole didnt like it.

when you do see it and are bored to tears don't be afraid to come back and say we were right, we won't think any less of you.

And I'll save you the time: "you idiots don't know the first thing about character development and how authentic and accurate the story is."
at least spare us that nonsense

MDS, please watch the 2nd episode soon and tell us all what you think? Thanks so much!

MDS

the first ep was sensational. even if this episode is terrible im not throwing the towel in on the show. david simon deserves better than that.

and also please do not compare this to the wire. nothing will ever be the wire. its not trying to be the wire. either treat like any other show or never watch tv again like igy does, because nothing is gonna be better than the wire. ever.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

i hated tv before the wire but for people who really like television....how depressing the above must bee...

so much so that i actually recommend to tv heads not to watch the wire because it will forever ruin one of your favorite things

you can say the same thing about a lot of different things, that nothing will ever top "it," but that doesnt stop people from still listening to music, watching sports, playing video games, etc.

the good thing about the wire is that it was so vastly different from other shows, its kind of in its own category. so you can watch it and properly separate it from other really good showsgoing on like dexter, mad men and breaking bad.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

it was as good as the first ep if not better.

unlike the wire there is no meaty story hook to keep you interested while david simon throws all the socioeconomic stuff and character development at you. here its really just the characters.

the main story hooks (lester getting his indian chief group back together, bunk and steve zahn finding work, joanie from deadwood keeping her restuarant afloat, etc.) are not really that captivating. obviously. its a show that is going to slowly but surely build on itself, scene by scene. a lot of shows like these never have a good pay off in the end and arent worth it. but you have to trust david simon.

also how could any wire fan not love this show? bunk + lester + tosha + SLIM CHARLES! even though it was a short scene at the end and probably wont be back, how awesome is that? you have to think any time there is a quickie scene like that simon is gonna dile up old wire characters to be in them. that alone is worth the price of admission.

the fact it has wire actors in it makes it worse...everyone who greatly contributed to the wire should have just retired...theres no way i could see bunk in another show because hed always be bunk and it would ruin it for me

and MDS....please stop trying to be a movie/tv critic. that was the worst thing I ever read in my life.

Holy shtein, give it a rest. I've never seen The Wire, but I think I'd have checked it out by now if not for the over-the-top nonsense on here. Every time I read the crap about one of you jizzing all over it, though, it makes me want to stay away on sheer principle.
