I honestly don't watch tv anymore. Been reading a lot lately. Trying to avoid visual media altogether. Brain rot and such. Anyway, I saw a commercial for American Idol on Fox and literally said "holy shtein" out loud when I saw Jake. I have to agree with SD here, that is one special kid you got there, Z.

Appreciate it! He's gotten what he's wanted to out of it, but would mind sticking around to play a few more weeks. Tomorrow is the most important vote-- if any of you are up for it and could throw him some votes starting at 8pm ET (on Monday), that would be great. You don't even have to watch...

The good news: never have to watch American idol again

Bad news: Jake was voted off

Granted I didn't watch any of the other performers but I thought he was too good for the show. Felt like the judges said as much with their comments

He's legit thrilled. Did everything he wanted with it and didn't want to be known for it. Another week would have been perfect-- but this was completely fine. It was funny, I couldn't say this publicly...but the head of the record label met with Jake and Julian backstage. He said, "Hey, look...the two actual musicians who write songs but didn't sing about Jesus on Faith night didn't get the middle-america vote. Shocker!" They all laughed. Behind the scenes, they're extremely interested in both Jake and Julian-- they both met with Atlantic Records today...which is the stuff people forget about. That's the only stuff Jake cares about. He'll be out there for meetings for a bit, then back for the finale. All good.

They bring in some cool, well-established artists for the Top 14 to duet with. They play up the scope of the show because a ton of people watch. Not sure who Jake will play with yet, but he had to give a list of people he'd like to play with, which is cool. Found out he is indeed working with Atlantic and 19 Entertainment-- they're releasing a new song of his before the finale. And Jake produced Julian's song for Atlantic the other day in the studio, which is a big win. Great credential to have. They're flying him back out to LA to play the Troubadour next week, and then out to Nashville to play a CMA event for them in June. Working out really well, so far. We'll see how it all plays out.
