Put differently - I feel like GoT and BB are both the equivalent of excellent summer movies.  You go in to be entertained and they check all the boxes.  Mad Men was a December release.  Sometimes hit it out of the park / sometimes struck out with it, but the goal was way different and probably higher.

id put GOT right up there with any of the great shows that have come along on cable. that includes the wire, BB and the sopranos - and i'm nowhere the nerd that some are about it.

havent watched mad men yet but it's next after i get trough its always sunny and archer.

yeah i agree theres no comparison btwn mad men and breaking bad...mm is far superior is every possible way except mindless entertainment....and thats not hating on bb which i liked less than almost anyone....its just fact....i can say the same thing about mm v. the shield which i loved

i go back n forth btwn mm and sopranos ...i think mm is that good

you are an insane fantasy/super hero/sci fi etc nerd...and while all those are not exactly like DnD its the same kind of person that is going to thinks its on a par with sopranos or wire

What GoT did that was unique to any big time show was slaughter protagonists regularly which doesn't happen on shows.  It creates a level of uncertainty that is hard to replicate.

BB's best thing was Cranston gave one of the best all-time performances that I've seen on TV.  He was amazing in BB. 

I am rooting really hard for Hamm to win best actor this year.  If Draper doesn't win one award for the entirety of Mad Men's run then it's criminal.

if he wins it'll be on the backs on of previous work....i dont think he's really had the material this year to warrant a victory. i wouldnt be opposed to giving him a legacy award, but thus far nobody has been better than kyle chandler in bloodline.

I agree that his best episodes were in the past, but it's hard for me to think that character doesn't win one award.

Haven't seen Bloodline yet.

mad men has more emmy wins for make-up than the wire has emmy nominations and wins combined so no i will not feel bad for hamm if he doesnt win again

But I'm not talking for MM overall - he just has never won & I think his character will end up being the most iconic character on TV post-Gandolfini, so the fact that he never won confuses me.
