They ended it on a nothing Thursday in February.   I never watched it and I barely knew it was ending but considering it was a top rated show at one point, wow what a fall.

its february sweeps.....one of the 4 most important months on the tv calendar.....and thursday night at 9pm is the most important time slot of the week. the ratings arent what they once were, as is the case for any show, but yeah. no.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

thanks for the clarification.

Don Ho

farging eh.  I have always enjoyed SNL.  Watched it fairly regularly over the years.  For christ's sake NBC stop shoving the show down our farging throats.  Everytime I turn on NBC it's an SNL special this or that.  Enough.
"Well where does Jack Lord live, or Don Ho?  That's got to be a nice neighborhood"  Jack Singer(Nicholas Cage) in Honeymoon in Vegas.

I thought sweeps were a period to set future advertising rates.  Why would a finale be important in a sweeps period if there's no future shows coming?

Seriously, I'm asking.

MDS

because the overall rating the network gets in sweeps factors into the advertising rate it can charge

it obviously is irrelevant for a show that is ending, but the network cares. that's why the super bowl, grammys, oscars, snl40 and tons of other one-off specials are during sweeps. now it doesnt matter as much as it used to, but its still a thing for the broadcast nets.

Finished with Friday Night Lights. I hate Texas and high school drama, but the series was remarkable. I was going to praise Tami Taylor but she put her own needs above her husbands at the end of the series so she'll get no such praise. Season 3 was the best season in my opinion. I hated the series finale up until the final 10 minutes which was great.

Everyone loves that show. I guess I should check it out to see what the fuss is about.

Top 5 series for me

The Wire
Breaking Bad
Sopranos
Game of Thrones
Friday Night Lights

ice grillin you

season 1 of fnl is as perfect a season as there has ever been on tv
season 2 = skippable POS
season 3 - excellent comeback year
season 4-5 start to become cliche and sorta 90210 feeling but they are still very good for a teen soap opera

yeah it's definitely a bit of a redneck 90210 at times, but i also loved it. top 5 show for me as well. but yes that writers strike and horrible landry story in season 2 almost made me stop watching. i wouldn't skip it though, still a good episode or two that year.

Season 2 was definitely the worst but it was bearable.

Need a new series to watch, it's between:

Fargo
Shameless
The Shield

Orange is the new black
