Walking Dead premier was pretty incredible. The zombie parts were great of course, but the scenes when he's walking down the steps in the hospital in the dark, or walking up to the farm house and you hear the swing chains creaking...chilling stuff. Probably the best premier of any television show I can remember.

The more I think about it, I have one complaint. I did not like that the zombies (ie the wife) seemed to have a slight memory of what house she was hiding in, thus knowing her husband and child were in there. Though maybe it was just coincidence that she went up to that door. Either way, lame. Also lame that she attempted to open the door via doorknob. Zombies don't do that.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I'm not a big fan, but I gotta say:  Maher is far more intelligent and funny than Dennis Miller ever was.

Agreed, but I did get a kick out of Miller back in the day.

dennis miller was never funny ever to begin with ever never ever ever

Miller was quite hilarious about 15 years ago or so but I don't think he ever had the widespread appeal because his humor required the listener to have some intelligence or a dictionary handy in order to crack the code.

Maher is able to talk about "intellectual" topics but is able to do so in layman's terms so that the average idiot understands what's going on.

It's kind of like the old Visa commercial with Jerry Seinfeld where he's doing a show in England and gets no response from the audience.  So he goes out, buys some clothes to fit in with the locals, hits up a pub for a few pints and then gets back on stage telling the same joke with British terms and the audience is cracking up.

Most people didn't get Miller basically because he used too many big words.

please to provide a youtube clip of Dennis Miller saying something funny...you get one shot, but since Miller was 'quite hilarious' once upon a time, that shouldn't be asking too much

yes, seriously

it has nothing to do with perceived intelligence. miller tries too hard and simply isnt funny.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Nope.  I won't argue over personal taste with you.  You never found him funny.  That's fine.  I did at one point, especially during his SNL days and when he had his show on HBO.  I'm not that hung up on it to try and change your mind or prove a point.  It would be like you saying you don't like a certain food, but I do therefore I should make you a meal out of it.  What's the point?  Besides, I'm sure you've got errands to run that are far more important than watching a comedian who peaked over a decade ago.

And I certainly won't argue anything of comedic value with Todd.  Especially since he was trying to learn long division when Miller was somewhat relevant.

Diomedes

yeah, that's what I thought

Think what you want ditch digger, I'm not going to scour through Dennis Miller clips looking for "the one" that I think even your soured soul might laugh at.

MDS

so basically miller was kind of funny at certain points 15 years ago but once the republican machine brainwashed him into being scared of brown people, he started sucking

The BIGSTUD

The Walking Dead premier was definitely very good. I hope they keep it suspenseful and dark and don't make it too sappy. AMC has great programming so I don't see why they'd do anything but do it right.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

so i looked and looked for a funny miller youtube clip and couldnt find one....perhaps he wasnt as funny as i remebered...not that i thought he was hilarious or anything

in my search i did come across this which i thought was really good and far better than anything i could find on miller

one time, on MNF, Miller said that Zach Thomas jumps around more than a Chinese acrobat with an ear infection.  i didn't get it, and i still don't but the combination of words made me laugh.
