Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Thanks to the netflix thing on my 360 I've been able to watch the two seasons of the BBC version of The Office.  I have mixed feelings about it.  I think they're both good shows, and I like both for different reasons.  The BBC version is probably a little more cringe-inducing, but it doesn't have any real depth or heart.  The only character with any depth is the David Brent/Michael Scott character, and he has far fewer redeeming qualities than the American version. Ricky Gervais is great, though.

The Tim/Jim character is very similar, right down to facial expressions, which surprised me.  The Dawn/Pam character is awful the BBC version though.  Zero depth, and I think she's fairly hideous which really hurts the show.

Anyway, interesting to see both versions.

You nailed it.

I actually bought the british version on DVD (someone recommended it) before the american version of the office came out.  While I can appreciate British humor, the american version is much better.  I think it was actually the fact that this one is more cringe-inducing is what turned me off to it.  I almost felt uncomfortable watching it.

As for Dawn being hideous, you have to take into account that the British are, in general, not an attractive people.
I'm not from Philly but some say I'm blunt.

I've never watched one episode of the Office

This is what made the British show great, and it was the initial pull for the U.S. version.

I think it's a little of an acquired taste.  I saw one episode and didn't see what the fuss was about.  Then I gave it another chance and got hooked.  It's more character-driven than plot-driven, so I think it holds up better as a series than by the episode.

Well, that Dawn character might be the worst looking woman on that show...and she doesn't have enough depth to pull off being attractive despite that.  For that character to work, there has to be something redeeming and attractive there.  I didn't see it.

Damages on FX is a good show. I suggest checking it out for those that haven't.

I love Rose Byrne.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Same thing.  First time I watched it... I thought it sucked.  Then I kept hearing how everyone says it's funny as shtein and all that so I tried again... laughed my ass off and have been watching ever since.  Same with Mrs. Feva.  She checked it out before and wasn't impressed.  After I got into it, I got her to watch again... and we both watch now.
