nobody cares about poor/working class people dying

corporate profits >> human life
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Is that the opioid doc?

I'm almost finished the Son of Sam on Netflix. A little slow in eps 2 and 3 but pretty good. I never knew about the theory about additional gunmen.

Also - Selena on Netflix. The girl who plays Selena is drop dead smokin.

Yes. It's roughly 4 hours total...I can't believe it hasn't been a bigger scandal considering the opioid epidemic which has only gotten worse with the pandemic. It's right up igys alley with the dirty corporate tactics and disgraceful members of congress. These people have no souls. If you remember back 10 years ago two guys on separate nights ran onto the field at the Phillies game. The second guy I grew up with, he died a few weeks ago of an overdose.

The older I get and especially after four years of Cheeto Dick and now the spread of the virus he left behind in politics the more cynical I get.

Pols and corporations have always been underhanded, conniving and dirty but it didn't register on the level it should have when I was younger.

Now, when I watch something like that, or read stories about farged up shtein my brain struggles to process how it's allowed to go on.

I'll watch it and get pissed off I'm sure.

saw all the Philly DA billboards when I was in Philly over the weekend so started watching it.  Anyone paying attention already knows the story but still pretty good so far.

Man I went to a few bars around Oregon Ave this weekend and it seems almost as Trumpy as AZ - smoking cigs, no masks, etc.  South Philly really is it's own animal huh.

I don't watch much teevee.  Usually nothing but NFL, all year.  Then I discoverd F1 through Drive To Survive, orwhatever it's called, like a billion other people.  So there's that.

But for the last couple nights I've indulged in re-runs of The First 48 on the Mystery channel, or something like that.  48 is compelling shtein, without too much of the bullshtein drama and repetetive filler.  The cops, the victims and their families, the suspects...it's some shtein.

I love to see a killer taken off the street, but I can't help myself pulling for these suspects to shut the farg up except for four words.  "I want a lawyer."

Don't farging talk to cops.  Jesus Christ.  Ain't nobody teaching these people:  the cops are not your friend.  They aren't going to do shtein for you in trial, aren't gonna ask the judge to go easy on you, aren't going to help you.

There needs to be some community outreach or something, some PSAs to people:  If you are under arrest, or being interviewed for an investigation, request representation and close your mouth.

Check out ID Channel.  Basically the only thing I watch when I have time to watch tv.  So many good shows but my favorite is See No Evil - it recreates crimes and catches killers all through video cameras, traffic cameras, security footage, etc. so you see them for real instead of recreating them unsolved mysteries style.

Diomedes

Yeah, I despise the recreation stuff.  The actual footage of real cops and real interviews I can't get enough of.

Yeah First 48 is compelling shtein. I love that show. Especially when they were filming down here.

The shtein people say to cops is mind boggling.

See no evil and Evil lives here are my two favorite...glad there's new episodes.

I have the same thought as dio farg talking to the police without a lawyer. I've watched way too many of these shows where cops force or trick innocent people into false confessions. In these shows the cops all say "why do you need a lawyer if you did nothing wrong". farg you that's why. A popular one is "how do you think the crime occurred" then they use that piece. The issue is if you're only being detained or questioned you don't get read your Miranda rights...so someone unfamiliar with how the system works doesn't automatically think lawyer first because the option isn't presented to them.

The reason "the first 48 hours" are so important is that if the killer isn't obvious enough to round up within two days (i.e. the boyfriend, the ex-husband, the gang member who was threatening the victim for weeks), the cops are never going to figure it out.

Funny story-- my buddy is a musician and the show picked up one of his songs for an episode. He was stoked and told everyone about it, and his young kids wanted to see it....and it ended up being used in a raunchy, porno-style sex scene that wasn't quite as friendly as the audience he'd told to watch it. Ha.

speaking of music and this will not appeal to anyone here but I didn't mention that the show also has a great early 90's hip hop sound track

Trying to figure out the Mare of Easttown twist for the finale. The accents are so over the top it's comical. Sometimes too much cultural setting is a bad thing.

phattymatty

until just now I thought it was Mayor of Eastown.  I have not seen it yet.
