Umm - he was someone who had to actually catch those knuckleballs.

I saw this unfolding two years ago - Freddie was doomed when he dared to not genuflect at the altar of McNabbulous in public. He did the unthinkable and berated one of the NFL's marketing darlings. One major rule of surviving in this league is that you don't take public shots at "The Chosen Ones" - you issue nothing but praise (white lies are highly welcome), and do your part to help build the myth. Freddie violated the rule, so he became Public Enemy #1 in the eyes of the bigwigs, who set out to make an example of him. The quest to make Freddie pay reached bizarre heights - with Bill Belicic getting in on the action!

Sigh...the only thing wrong with the article is that Freddie has dug his hole even deeper. Oops - but maybe that wasn't possible.

He should write a book.
