I wouldn't take Harrington.

I'd take no less than Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and a first rounder. That's an awful lot, but those players aren't exactly special.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.

not a horrible deal, although i'd like to get joe johnson back in an a1 to atl trade.  the fact that the hawks have cap space so the sixers might not have to take back equal salary makes it tolerable.
harrington is a tweener but he can play.

Yeah, but it all depends on how you want to build your team. I'd rather have some type of a defender to play where Harrington is going to play. Then again, the Hawks stink every year. Maybe you want to look elsewhere.

The ideal for AI that I'd look for is still Chicago. I'd try to pry away Gordon and Deng. You figure they won't trade Gordon because of his second half and playoffs, but his name is being discussed in rumors pretty often.

harrington isnt a tweener...hes a big boy...he just plays a lot smaller than he is...he doesnt like the paint

joe johnson is the most overpaid player in the nba...hes a 6th man who caked off because of a fluke year on a scoring machine phoenix team and then scored last year on horrid atlanta team where he could gun at will

Just when you think you'll never find someone as arrogant as Ed Wade, you read this...

Wow...  that's awesome.   :deion

I wouldn't mind seeing them get Harrington a lottery pick and possibly something else.  IMO they almost have to get rid of Iverson this offseason because if they don't they may never get a chance to again.  I love AI and would hate to see him go, but it is time to move on he has run his course in Philly.  It is a shame they never could put a better surrounding cast around him they would have had an opportunity to win a championship.

IGY, you couldnt be more wrong with these statements. Regardless of what Johnson got paid, he more than fulfilled his paycheck this year. He not only showed he could still shoot the rock, but dish them highly on a consistent basis as well. Hes the future of that franchise without question--along with Josh Smith--who became a complete beast the 2nd half-in every stat category

As far as your Harrington statement and his presence in the paint--its apparent you didnt watch one game of the Hawks and are completely guesstimating. The Hawks were in almost every single game and won games against good teams because of Smiths defense/scoring, Harringtons scoring/boards and Johnsons all-around game. He will be one of the top free agents on the market and well worth it.

I'm underwhelmed.

But I also believe that it might be time to deal him. :-\

that's what a tweener is.
harrington has the size of a pf but plays more like a sf...(think antwan jamison but without the shooting range).  he's a good player but he's not a true pf or a true sf.  for a big boy, he only grabs 7 boards per game.
that being said, i'd take him if the #4 pick is included.

btw, joe johnson is much better than al.  he's 6'7, can play 3 positions, & put up 20ppg and 8 apg since the all star break.

a tweener is a player who doesnt have the size/skill set of any one position...someone that is to small for pf and to slow for sf for example...harrington has the size and skills to be a great power forward but would rather sit outside and shoot threes...hes similar to iverson...iverson isnt a tweener hed be the perfect one but doesnt want to play it

as for jj anyone who is the best player on a bad team and is a gunner can score twenty pts

like he was on pheonix johnson is best suited to be an instant offense type guy off the bench...or a third option in a starting lineup...he is grossly overpaid...and is the last thing the sixers need...a huge contract on a guy that isnt all that good and who is awful defensively

just semantics, i guess.  to me, harrington has a pf's body but the game of a sf so that makes him a tweener.  whatever...he's still a very good player.

i still disagree with you about johnson.  he put up very good numbers on a good phoenix team & on an awful atlanta team...shows he can put up good numbers no matter what team he's on.
sure, he's overpaid...harrington will be too, once he gets his new deal.  you're going to take back salary when you give up salary (a1).  it doesn't really matter since atl isn't giving up jj.

i'd take harrington & #4.

i said id take harrington...i just dont want any part of johnson...atlanta had a ton of money whiffed on few big time free agents and then reached for johnson to show thier fans they were willing to make moves..any moves...hes a nice player but not what the sixers need at that kind of money...the only thing they need less than another bad contract is another bad defender

man....your baffling me by the second IGY--I thought you knew a little more about b-ball. Johnson played PG duties in his 1st year not even knowing if he could flourish and produced big time, he didnt bust. So that means he was well worth his paycheck (but almost every player is grossly overpaid, so you point is null and void). To tell me that you wouldnt want a guy with a 20ppg avg, almost 7 assists per game and 4+ boards is literally asisinine--especially since the Sixers are a bad team and you point prior was Johnson was only good because he produced on a bad team--so he would be good for the Sixers right?. The guy penetrates and dishes, is a great shooter and is ummmm 6'7.

And again, your point of him not playing defense is wrong because u didnt watch one Hawks game.
Ohh, and we dont have a shot at him, so why we are talking about Joe Johnson is crazy to begin with

ice grillin you

is a great shooter

lol...hes a terrible shooter..he shoots worse than iverson and is eight inches taller...and i have watched hawks games but moreso lots of pheonix games on the nba package...johnson is a nice little player and at a better price i guess id take him on my team...but not for iverson and not at that money

do you have any idea how many worthless 20 pt per game guys there have been in this league...scoring 20 pts for an atrocious hawks team is meaningless so why even bring it up

put the ball in john salmons hands everytime down and let him shoot at will and hell bag 20 a game in thsi league too

IGY my man, if you did know anything about Joe Johnson you wouldnt be harping on an ESPN stat you just looked at and created this illusion in your head that Joe Johnson is not worth picking up for the Sixers. The guy is not one-dimensional like every friggin player on the Sixers, but a PG that can effectively play 3 positions, you scoop up in a solid heartbeat. Im sorry
