One of the many reasons to hate WIP is on the air right now. Charry is ripping the Eagles for not getting Javon Walker. He said they should've packed their 2nd and other picks to get him.  :-D

Are you Bi-polar or something?  In one breath, you say how sure you were that the Eagles were going to get Walker and how badly they could have used him AND how sure you are they'll still sign/trade for another veteran WR.  Then, you claim you hate WIP and are laughing at it for suggesting the Eagles should have tried harder to get Walker.

Um...  sure.

i was extremely happy with the draft after day one, it looks like they did some nice things on the second day.  until i see how everything works it way out on the field i'm going to stick to a very solid A-

This ugly old fart thinks the Eagles did only average.  Apparently, his daughter was the hooker picked up by Winston Justice.

Quote22. Philadelphia: The Eagles did a solid job, but fans must remember that USC tackle Winston Justice was reminded who he had to block in the national championship game on that critical fourth down and still messed up. The perception is that the Eagles stole him in the second round with the 39th overall pick. They definitely reached on Cal Poly SLO linebacker Chris Gocong while defensive tackle Broderick Bunkley was a no-brainer in the first round. Coach Andy Reid likes skier Jeremy Bloom as a kick returner and slot receiver in a spread formation. Michigan WR Jason Avant has some potential, but no one should confuse him with Terrell Owens. Grade: C

PHILADELPHIA

Eagles President Joe Banner told me on the radio that he and Coach Andy Reid like to build a team from the inside out. They did just that in the first two rounds. When Winston Justice shockingly fell to the second round, Reid promptly traded up to get the USC offensive tackle. While this was a major fall for Justice, he is going to a great line coach in Juan Castillo, a coach Justice told me he clicked with during a visit. Justice was a consideration for the Eagles in round 1 if defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley was off the board. When the FSU star was around, he was easily the Eagles pick. In fact, the Eagles wanted to trade up to 8 to get Bunkely, but the Bills inexplicably didn't think they would get the immortal Donte Whitner at 14.

And Banner could get arrested for highway robbery with his trade up and eventual 4th round selection of Max Jean Gilles, who could've easily been a high second round pick..

The Eagles also did a good job on day two with the underrated Michigan receiver Jason Avant; a possession receiver. Philadelphia then selected former Olympic skier Jeremy Bloom, a lighting quick athlete who will instantly play on special teams

Great looking draft, I just felt like F.O. got the job done really fargin good. Justice in the 2nd and Avant so late were great surprises.

A+  You guys complaining about a big RB are killing me!  Buck/Tapeh/Perry/Moats will be fine.  I do wish they took Rod Wright over Ramsey, since they really could have a steal with starting DT material if they could motivate Rod.

Easily Reid's best draft.  McNabb and Corey were good picks but were expected.  Top to bottom this was their best draft.

excellent draft....b+
only 1 early-ish pick i didn't care for but the rest made up for it.

I give it a solid A. One of the best drafts I can remember. I would have liked a QB late, but not a major concern

Offensively, if Justice and Gilles pan out, which they should, this line is going to be not only monstrously huge, but made up of very athletic, technically sound blockers. Screw the talk about a big back. Between Moats, Westy, Perry, Tapeh and maybe CBuck, running behind those giants shouldn't be a problem. Think of the push they'll get on running plays. Avant should be a guy that can contribute right away. He runs excellent routes, and isn't afraid to catch in traffic. He also catches almost everything thrown his way. He isn't speedy, but he is tough as nails. Bloom instantly makes kick offs and punts interesting and becomes a problem for opposing teams. He may also turn into a good slot/gadjet receiver.

Defensively, Bunkley rounds off what will should be an absolutely disruptive line. Howard, Cole, Patterson, Kearse, McDougle, Walker, should be very fun to watch opposing QBs flee for their lives. They have a long rotation of solid to excellent D-Lineman, that will keep them fresh throughout the season. They should make the LBs and secondary look much, much better right away. The Cocong pick I am coming around on. People talked about Vince Young looking like a man among boys in the Rose Bowl, and from what I have seen and read about this kid, that is the way he was were he was playing. If they can get him knowledgable, and comfortable in the LB position, he could be a solid player. I think he will definitely be a solid STer. This Gaither kid looks interesting. Has good coverage skills, and looks like the negatives aren't due to physical limitations. He could be a solid move for depth, and will look to turn some heads on special teams. Finally, I have never heard of the Ramsey kid, but he did compete with very solid players at USC, including Patterson. Maybe a project to be sent of to NFLE.

Overall, the way they drafted, it makes them look pretty smart from a FA standpoint. Some of the players they took in the draft are very similar to the guys they were supposedly interested in during FA. Avant and David Givens, Gilles and Bentley, Bloom and Randle El. They used both aspects (FA and the draft) to do a large amount of upgrading and a lot of need positions.

Rick Goslin on Dallas Morning News rated it a "B".  He geve out 1 A+, 1 or 2 A's and about  a half-Dozen B's.  He gave Dallas a "C".

For the people that wanted a QB, there's only a few names still left on the UDFA pile (including Vick), but next year's class should be decent...

Brady Quinn (Notre Dame) -- likely #1 overall pick
Jordan Palmer (UTEP) -- younger bro of Carson
Kyle Wright (Miami) -- junior
Brian Brohm (Louisville) -- junior
Drew Stanton (Michigan State)
Troy Smith (Ohio State)
Chris Leak (Florida)
Tyler Palko (Pittsburgh)
Kevin Kolb (Houston)

ice grillin you

kyle wright is train wreck

unless he makes a leap of epic proportions i cant see him even being drafted next year
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

I give this draft an A.
I'm not crazy about the Gacong pick but that is because I fear what I don't know. Everything else in this draft more then compensates.

I do wonder about the running game but somehow I think the recievers will be fine. Certainly better then the Thrash years.

I'm anticipating Troy Smith will really improve this year.

I think that almost anyone should be able to run effectively behind this line. I think Andy clearly addressed the running game with the picks of Justice & Gilles.

Kiper (already been posted?):

QuotePhiladelphia Eagles: GRADE: B

I really like defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley playing next to Mike Patterson on the defensive line. Tackle Winston Justice and Georgia guard Max Jean-Gilles will solidify the left side of the offensive line for years to come. Chris Gocong was a solid pick, whether they play him at defensive end or linebacker, and Jeremy Bloom will be a great pick once he shakes off the rust from being away from the game. Still, Bloom can help the Eagles in the return game this season.

I find his grade puzzling, because Bunkley, Justice, and Jean-Gilles were all at or near the top of his "best available" when they were drafted.  Plus, he doesn't criticize anything they did.

Oh well.

Heard him this morning on ESPN Radio and he only gave out like one A- and a couple of B+.  He was very complimentary regarding the birds picks.
