the very soon, if not already, to be released standalone tivo will be 80 hours and will allow you to record 2 shows at once.

That'd be a neat trick, considering the cable box is a single tuner.  Maybe that's just for a direct input?

I have it set up that way, actually.  I have a splitter from the wall cable jack, and coax going to both the box and the TV, then composite cables going from the cable box to the TV.  So we watch digital cable/Tivo on AV1, and if something is taping, we can get non-digital channels (1-99 or so) on Antenna 0 (direct through the TV).

Honest, I don't work for Comcast, and they piss me off lots of times...however, the DVR I have from them is part of my digital cable box, and it has two separate DVR tuners/recorders in it. I can watch something and record something else, record two different shows (including off premium channels), etc. It's very, very cool, as is the "On Demand" features.

With all of the features/programming to which I have access through them (and, granted that I know I pay too much for it), if I can't find something I want to watch when I have time to watch TV, I'm not trying hard enough.

My wife and i went away for the weekend and came home last night to my tivo sounding like a japanese wwII fighter divebombing pearl harbor.  I unplugged it, let it settle for a few minutes and powered up and made the all telling clicking noise of the hard drive trying to engage.  I looked on tivo community forums and found a thread w/my exact problems and just like i thought, my hard drive crashed  :'(

I called up Direct TV to see what could be done, they actually told me to keep my tivo or trash it, and are fedexing me a new tivo with 35more hours of recording time for free.  The the guy gave me 4 months of HD programming for my other HD receiver.  I have to say for 11:00pm on a sunday night i was amazed at the customer service i received.
