ESPN reporting per the NY Daily news that Joe Torre will be fired

QuoteAccording to the New York Daily News, however, the popular Yankees manager will be fired unless he decides to resign first to save face. Sources told the newspaper that former Yankees player and manager Lou Piniella will be owner George Steinbrenner's choice to replace Torre

We will take that bum Arod off of your hands.

No way.
:-D  Are you serious?  If the Yankees ate some of his salary on top of what Texas is eating you still wouldnt trade for him?

He is having an off year, but is still one of the best players in the game.

Yet, you want Torii Hunter and his bi-monthly DL stints? ARod, for the right price, would be terrific. Who cares if he chokes in the playoffs, I just want to get there.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I suggest death for you.

Rolen's out of the lineup tonight.  Apparently he finally admitted to LaRussa that his shoulder hurts too much to play.

As if the .010 or whatever he hit in the 2nd half wasn't enough to tell LaRussa that.

Quote"I am deeply disappointed at our being eliminated so early in the playoffs. This result is absolutely not acceptable to me nor to our great and loyal Yankee fans. I want to congratulate the Detroit Tigers organization and wish them well. Rest assured, we will go back to work immediately and try to right this sad failure and provide a championship for the Yankees, as is our goal every year."

The Boss speaks. And that rumor about Torre being canned for Sweet Lou has been bumped to a report. Both he and Gay Rod were absent from clean up day today at the Stadium. Awsome.

The Cardinals knocked the Padres out.

Cardinals/Mets
Tigers/Athletics

Just announced, Torre will be back as Yankees manager.

PhillyPhreak54

So he'll stay and they'll unload the bums like ARod.

I wonder where that nancy will end up?

Boston?
Anaheim?
Toledo Mudhens?

I hope Gillick doesn't get crazy. He had that loser in SEA. Just say no to that fraud.

SD_Eagle5

Say what you want, but I'd be thrilled to get ARod. Especially if there was a chance the Yanks would take Burrell and some young prospects off our hands for him. He's still one of the most talented hitters in the game.

PhillyPhreak54

I just don't like that dude. He's a chump.

What I do wonder though is whether he'd waive his FNTC and play 3B somewhere else. He only did that in NY because of Jeter. Would he want to go back to playing SS? I hope so. Don't want him here.

Even though, Buster Olney said this on M&M the other day, that he "only" has $64M remaining on his deal he'd be fairly cheap when you look at what the other top guys are going to want.

Olney said that Soriano is going to ask for $80M+
Carlos Lee will want $80M+ too.

That's fargin nutzo.

I want a LF who can bat 5th.
