he gave up 3 runs...in 3 innings where the phils had a 2-0 lead. if you want to bash burrell in the context of his at bats...then myers is just as open to it.

that is pretty unclutch.

i'm not saying that lost the game. but that was not an ace-like preformance.

what more lost the game last night was utley's absolutely unexcusable butcher of a dribbling ground ball in the bottom of the 8th that he tried to get fancy with when you have 2 outs, the catcher at the plate. and 1st and 2nd. even if utley just gloves that ball and makes no throw whatsoever he saves a run.

Agreed on Utley. Barehanding a ball with Schneider running was stupid.

And I don't agree with the Myers thing. Yeah he gave up 3 runs but it was all offense as to why they lost the game.

If you recall they would've been out of the one inning but the guy stole 2B. Then Brett induces a ground ball on the next pitch and the run scores to make it 2-1. If that SB isn't allowed its an inning ending double play.

He left a cutter over the plate to Zimmerman, who owns him, and he hit it to give up two runs.

He pitched well enough to win.

Bourn's baserunning blunder was bad too.

Let's look ahead, just for shteins and giggles.

1 game playoff on monday would be on TBS--not ESPN--and the awful Braves team would do the game. Yikes.

Phils would play wednesday and thursday in San Diego. Wednesday would be a 4/430 on ESPN(2). Thursday would probably be the same time and station, but has an outside shot of being on Fox at 8. But, they'll probably go with the Mets vs Cards/Astros instead.

Too tough to call when the weekend/monday games would be, but just know that the Yankees get the best timeslot, followed by the Mets. The Phils would probably be 3rd, but if the Cardinals make it, Albert Pujols > any other team.

Too bad Gillick is a senial farg who has no idea what he is doing anymore.

I have no confidence in him at all.

When he got the job he said "We need five more wins".

In spring training he said he did not add five more wins.

When he traded Abreu he told us not that the Phillies would not compete till 08 maybe 09.

When he got Moyer he was said he thought the Phils had a very good chance to win the wild card.

While it's great that he admits he is wrong, this and the general track record of his moves this year do not inspire confidence in me. 

I give him a C- as a general manager this year.  If this team makes the playoffs, it is in spite of Gillick.  Not because. 

I am still bitter from the Abreu trade.

ESPN declined on airing the monday games, and TBS has them. TBS in fact will have sunday afternoon (non braves) games and some playoff games next year, and will use those dickwads as their A team.
