Already 3-0 Tampa Bay. Haha.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

It's the 7th inning, and I'm puzzled.  The Phillies actually have MORE runs than the Travis Lees?

god willing.  at this point i just hope they crash and burn so bad they have no choice but to make drastic changes.

Nah, they'll finish as a stunningly mediocre team, just like last year and the year before that. And next year and the year after that.

Rome

Phils win.  Phlash did his best to make it interesting in the ninth, though.

That team is beyond brutal to watch.  Unless they're hitting dingers left and right, they have no chance to win.  None.

Well, at least they didn't get swept by the mighty Devil Rays.  So that's something.

5 of the 8 runs were scored without a HR, correct?

Rome

Without Howard's home run, they wouldn't have won the game.  Correct?

MDS

Smallball wins games.

"Chicks dig the long ball."

Bowa interview on NBC10:

-- the continued struggles over the last 2 years show "it's not the manager"
-- knew that Manuel was going to be the next manager as soon as he was hired
-- Rowand, Utley and Rollins are "Philly-type players"
-- players don't want to hear constructive criticism these days
-- says the Phils need pitching....you can't win 8-7 or 9-8 every day...."it's not an easy park to pitch in"
-- was upset at first, but no hard feelings about being fired
-- proud of putting the Phils back in the right direction
-- "I'll always be a Phillie", but it's a great honor to wear a Yankees uniform
-- in no rush to become a manager again....likes being a coach for Torre right now
-- much different atmosphere between organizations....the Yankees expect to win every year, not just hope for a wildcard spot
-- not sure what kind of reaction he'll get from Phillies fans....hopes it's a good one

Eskin also says that Manuel will be fired after this season and the players know it.  Clark points out that Gillick has only fired a manager mid-season once (Jimy Williams in 1989, replaced by Cito Gastin, which resulted in a division title)

So did the rest of us.  ;)

Anyone see Ryan Howard drop another ball at first today? And people complain about Bobby Abreu...

Also, I leave for Jubilee tommorrow. So this means little to no posting for 2 months. Cry your tears elsewhere, I know the pain it'll cause.

Yeah, but Howard hasn't won a Gold Glove for his defense.
