I was off and on with this game because of Lost, but I was there for the 9th. All I know is Alex Gonzalez hit with runners at 1st and 2nd, 2 outs and a 7-7 game. Pat Burrell was on the bench. Maybe he was dead or something, but I assume he could have been used. Even if he couldn't, pinch hitting Gonzalez for Dellucci because he was facing a left hander is a joke. Gonzalez has no business being on a major league roster. He's a worse, more useless version of Tomas Perez, without the pies and seemingly "goofy" personality.

Rhodes has been pretty shaky this year, but it wasn't his call to walk Bill Hall so he could face Jenkins. Hey, let's walk this average right hander so we can pitch to the 2nd best player on the team who happes to be left handed. Brilliant. The least Manuel could have done was let Rhodes pitch, carefully, to Hall. Just walking him is stupid. You only do that to Pujols and other super human hitters who could dig a ball out of the dirt and send it over the wall.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Gonzalez is hitting under .100.  No excuses.  Release him....

Burrell would've been the only player left on the bench, MDS.

Bell PH to start the inning for Blue Collar Sal.

Roberson PH for the pitcher.

So Ruiz was coming in to catch and leaving Pat on the bench.

Plus Pat's foot is really bothering him.

I had no problem with walking Hall. That run means nothing at 1st. And it also sets up a force out at each base and gives you the L-L matchup.

Think McFly, think.

Agreed.

He's a bum.

Pat Gillick needs to go find another utility guy. There's six million of them out there. Finding one better than Gonzalez shouldn't be hard.

left left means nothing, phreak. big woop. i just dont see the point in intentionally walking bill hall. maybe he gets himself out. hes bill hall, not babe ruth.

Yep, they're still zesty.  Smoke and mirrors.

not smoke and mirrors they just arent a 13 out of 15 team nor are they a one out of five team that started the year....they are around a .500 team who is not making the playoffs but has a chance to make a real run next year

I think they have a shot to make the playoffs this year. The NL is once again nothing special and the Phils could take advantage of that.

Their SP has been better than anticipated lately. Now they won't be 0.35 ERA good, obviously. But Lieber is solid, Myers has turned into what we all hoped he would, Hamels could be that guy who sparks the rotation ala Willis in 2003 and Floyd has been OK. Lidle is Lidle, you will get great stretches out of him and then he'll throw in a stinker and be average for awhile after that. And what bout Randy Wolf? It's ridiculous to even count on him for anything right now. But what if he comes back ready to contribute?

We now have a GM who will make trades and isn't a total dickbag. We also have some young players in the minors who are good bargaining chips.

If they can stay in the hunt and pick up a piece or two they can make a mini-run this year, IMO. But I agree that 2007 is the year that they have a legit shot. Wolf, Lieby and Bell are off the books.

But the offense has to get it going. The amazing thing about this streak was that they did it without Jimmy and Bobby hitting at all. And Burrell has tailed off too. I think his foot is bothering him.

Give me another bench guy (RH), another reliever and let's see whats up.

It would be a sweet bonus if Wolf could actually come back fairly good this season and pitch like a man possessed so he can earn his big contract with another team.

well almost everyone has a shot...but they wont make it....i see around 80-85 wins and i dont think that gets it done...thier pitching is not nearly good enough...and whether it be a starter or a late inning specialty guy thier lineup can be neutralized way to easily by lefthanders

i wouldnt be surprised to see them get owned by eveland today

I see a little more than that:  86-88 just like the last several years.  90 is a distinct possibility.

Myers has turned into what we all hoped he would

what?

after all the coddling, and waiting...so all we ever hoped from myers was for him to turn out to be an overemotional pitcher who has consistancy problems?

he's never pitched like that before...it would be a sweet bonus, but for now enjoy your jelly of the month club membership.

today's game is about to start.  let's see if Cole can get himself a win today.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.
