abreau walks over 100 times every year and has a very good obp...he has to hit in front of the big boys not behind them

the confetti and balloons just fell on top of ya IGY

Wingspan

they should only field three players. rowand, rollins, and abreu.

no one else is hitting a damn thing. but at least you'll get 9 at bats gaurenteed from them

the pitcher the phils let go for nothing because no one liked him (boo farging hoo) is 2-0 with a 3.00 era.

the slugger everyone gave up on and wanted to trade to let howard play is batting .318 with 4 hrs

you're suggesting they should've kept him?  it's a week into the season.

ice grillin you

what's the point if nobody knocks him in.

if they arent hitting theres nothing you can do about it...in your scenario the big boys get up and strike out...leaving abreu up there with no one on and david bell behind him...can you say 200 walks a year

abreu walking in front of a guy is better than abreu hitting behind that same person....having people on base gets you better pitches than having a good hitter behind you

if you wanna help howard
and he needs it right now
what you do is move him to clean up

that non stop off speed stuff junk hes getting now will stop with the quickness if rollins rowand and abreu are on base when he comes up
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

i agree, the Abreu to 6th thing probably not the right move by the numbers, but i keep thinking how anybody who bats 6th is going to get garbage and Abreu is their best garbage hitter.

but yes, of ALL the players who shouldn't bat 6th, Howard is #1 on that list.

the boy could  be rejuvenated..happens a lot. How do we know if he was really hurt all that time here (as a matter of fact, I think we do know). I think there was too much pressure on him to hit HR's here. When your playing for the World Series champs, hits are coming left and right, the fans arent bearing down on you, you just go up to the plate and swing away with confidence. He didnt have that here. I say he makes it thru the season....GO THOME.

lmfao at the second guessing already of trading Thome.

So farging typical and pathetic all in one big breath.

i think no matter what Jim Thome does in Chicago, the trade was a great one.  You lost a chunk of his salary, you got 2 pitching prospects, one of which is supposedly a stud, and you got a great defensive centerfielder, for a player that was holding back a young superstar.  There's no way to lose there.

ice grillin you

everyone knew/knows that thome is good for 45-50 homers if he is healthy....but he had to go...

padilla trade was a terrible one...that addition by subtraction crap is bs...so he was a semi head case on the mound...by that definition myers should go well

bottom line is you dont give away a top three pitcher when your pitching is arguably the worst in the league

Thome is also a DH.  Big difference when you dont have to take the field every day.

He should be protecting Howard by hitting 6th.  Howard should be 5th.  Utley should be 2nd.  Utley is not a cleanup hitter or a #5 hitter.  Howard is hitting too low in the order and has no protection behind him....

I was going to suggest this lineup change a few days ago, then Rowand starting hitting so I figured I'd hold off. But couldn't agree more.

I also agree that Howard is hitting way too far down in the lineup.
