2. Goodbye, Sal. I didn't really hate him but I hated the worship of him by the clueless fans who just loved his goatee and mullet.

guess you hated a lot of fans back in 1993.

Not at all. Those guys deserved admiration and support. Sal wasn't a bad defensive catcher but he was worshipped by some (Sal's Pals) just because of the way he looked.

I have no problem rooting for a dirty, gritty ballplayer at all. But have some basis for the admiration. Thats all I am saying.

Blow it up. Push the plunger down, Pat. Sets it on fire!

It was probably more a writer's pipedream than a rumor but someone in the paper suggested McCarthy and Josh Fields for Gordon.

I love Gordon but I would carry Gordon on my back to Chicago for that deal.

PhillyPhreak54

That would be a coup.

I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Lieber
Lidle
Cormier
Rhodes
Gordon
Burrell
Dellucci
Abreu

Those are the guys who I would be looking to unload.

Yep, my list is the same except with Rowand also on it.  I doubt you could get much for him, but I dont want him on the team next year.

I wouldnt understand the reasoning in keeping him when you have a very similiar player in Victorino who is sitting on the bench for a couple million cheaper and when you have the possible answer to our leadoff problem destroying AAA pitching right now.

I have a baseball boner for Michael Bourn.

PhillyPhreak54

Totally disagree with you on that one. Rowand is great because of his defense. He's not having a good year at the plate, but I think thats just an aberration.

Up the middle defense is muy importante. His range in CF is very good and needed.

Victorino? I like him but I would like to see him in LF if BUrrell is traded. And I hope Pat is dealt so we can see Shane play everyday and see if he is able to perform. He's somewhat unknown.

And even more unknown is Mike Bourn.

Don Ho

I almost blew off the kids this afternoon to stay home and watch this shtein.  I am so glad the wife kicked us out of the house on a beautiful day in paradise to go surfing.  Even though the surf wasn't all that great,  had I stayed home to watch this joke I would have died.  11 hits and 1 farging run.  Jesus H. Christ.

As bad as Rowand has been at the plate this year, he was worse last year, which is why I am not sure it was an abberation.

But I really really hate Rowand.  It isnt healthy.

FWIW a scout from baseball america I talk to claims that Victorino and Bourn are both on Rowand's level defensively if not better.  He is a phillies fan so he tends to overrate them, but still.

In case you are wondering how fast Bourn really is, at the end of last year he scored on a sacrifice fly from second base with no errors on the play.  :-D

I happened to catch the last few innings of that gem last night.

Abreu dogging it around 1st, thinking he had an easy gap double, was hilarious (although I didn't see Renteria's glove tag him at 2nd before he got a hand down).

How many pitches had Myers thrown before Chollie sent him out for the 9th?

In my opinion, they should

Keep:  Howard, Myers (they need pitching, and right now he's the best), Utley, Rowand, Rollins (though I'm ambivalent about the last two right now, both give good defense)

Deal:  Gordon, Abreu, Burrell, Lieber, Lidle, Bell (he's hitting over .280 now?  DEAL HIM!)

Bring up:  Bourn, Floyd (it's time to sink or swim)

I know there's more to do than that, but this is off the top of my head.

Everyone put your Rowand boners away, he's not that good.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Seabiscuit36

he was tearing it up before his face was mashed.  i'll give him the benefit of the doubt this year, but if you got good prospects for him i'd do it.

They have a real good 19 year old catcher in Lakewood named Lou Marsen. He is gonna develop. We need a deal with the Dbacks. I know a pitcher there who I had in Little League years ago. He is a 7 foot closer named Ryan Doherty in A ball. He throws strikes and has a rubber arm. Word is he will be in the show in two years.
Alert, alert. Look well at the rainbow. The fish will be running very soon.
