Christ you sound like my wife, minus the mushing.

i bought a suit off the rack for the first time ever yesterday at JC Penny's.

where do i take it to get tailored?  i know most dry cleaning places offer that, has anyone ever done that?

No, but I did the same a while ago...and was thinking the same...let me know if they do a decent job...I figure $50-$70 for tailoring? The pants I that came with the suit look like zuit-suit pants...farg...feels rediculous.

Dry Cleaning places do a decent job, and for a JCpenny suit its fine.  It does help to find a legit tailor, since getting your suit worked on by an old italian man is infinitely better than a drycleaner getting yelled at.

I'd take it to a tailor.

Men's Warehouse will tailor for you even if you bought the suit out of the store.

SunMo

they will?  i checked their website for something about that and couldn't find anything.  that would be my first preference

If you get it done there, you're gonna like the way you look...I guarantee it.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Yeah.  I just bought 2 suits from them last week since I figured camoflauge would not be a good look for job interviews.  I checked their store first, found some stuff I liked but wanted to shop around first.  I asked them if they'd still do the tailoring if I bought elsewhere and they said yes, but that priority will be given to in-store purchases.  Normal turn around time on in-store purchases was 3-5 days, out of store would probably be 7-10 days.  So if you need the suit sooner than that, then you probably need to go to a regular tailor.

And just incase anyone cares, I looked at the dept store suits but ended up going back to MW anyway.  Better selection and buy 1, get 1 free on suits over $200.  2 suits, 2, shirts, 2 ties, 2pr shoes and tailoring for $700.  And they offer lifetime adjustments on any tailoring they do for free along with free button and zipper repair.  So in 2 years, if I need my jacket let back out, I can take it to any MW and they'll do it at no cost.

SunMo

i did end up calling them and they told me the same thing you just said.  my wedding isn't until 7/20 and we aren't leaving until 7/18 so I think I have enough time.

Just out of curiosity, why buy a suit for your wedding instead of renting a tux?

SunMo

because i don't have a suit and wanted one anyway.

SunMo

that and it's a real casual wedding, a few people at niagra falls, nothing real formal so i didn't feel a tux was necessary
