Don't flatter yourself. Bin Laden got bitter when Saudi Arabia gave permission to US to set up base during Desert Storm. Bin Laden wanted to take out Saddam himself with his boys. Saudi Arabia said no, so Bin Laden got kicked out of his own country and started his own army. They attacked the US so we would strike back on their turf where they have a chance to take out soldiers little by little. Its all a well calculated step by them and they got what they wanted. We had to pay the price, look where its gotten us.

It's not going to take Al Qaida. We're doing it to ourselves. In their wildest wet dreams they could never inflict the economic hardships this country does to itself. If they're smart, they'll sit back safely and laugh.

They are the obvious, immediate physical threat, but no, it's not that simple. I think there is a larger movement afoot. It's not cloak and dagger stuff, but there are culture shifts taking place.

I can't disagree with that. I would love to be able to kick terrorist ass on a country-wide scale, but it just isn't how things work.

What does bother me is the growth of the ideologies that are aligned with the terrorist agenda. They distract us with the violence (or threat of violence), while they also work subversively to erode our society. Either way, their goal is the destruction of the west as we know it.

You're right, of course, but just because that is their stated goal doesn't mean that they have any capacity to accomplish that goal. shtein, my goal is to stick my tongue in Jessica Alba's ass, and I'll scream it from the mountain tops.

im sure there are people over there that want to destroy the west just as theres people in america that wanna turn the middle east into glass but the majority of even the terrorists want to destroy the US (and GB to a lesser extent) because of our policies towards their countries

Not just America, but the West. Take a look at what's happening in Holland right now. There's a battle for free speech going on in the courts. And does any newspaper in the west still have the balls to print a cartoon depiction of Mohammed?

for the most part yeah...terrorsim will always exist...but it wouldnt be even close to the level it currently is...and really it barely  registers now for us...they are the ones getting their countries pulverized...weve had what three attacks ever on us soil?

we will never stop tho because this is big business for us now and the ultimate excuse to start wars
