It's been a couple of rough days...

A friend of mine went in to have a kidney transplant over the weekend, and during recovery a blood clot broke loose, making them take her into emergency open heart surgery.  She went into a coma, and was on a respirator for two days before coming out of it.  Prognosis is looking better, but they are still concerned about any kind of brain damage that may have occurred.  She's about 3 years older than me.

Secondly, another friend of mine's son committed suicide yesterday, hanging himself off the back deck.  Dad (my friend) found him.  15 minutes before that, the kid was talking about getting a summer job and making some money.  No clues about what happened to cause this, but my friend and his wife are obviously a total mess.  Kid was about 15 or 16 years old.
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

Yeah, I get that.  I didn't post it for sympathy or anything, but whenever I hear about some dumbass teenager offing himself, it pisses me off because they are too young, too self-absorbed, and too immature to understand what their decision is doing to dozens, if not hundreds, of people.  Actually, anyone killing themselves is one selfish muthereffer, but it just magnifies itself when it's a kid, leaving parents tearing themselves apart about why they couldn't see it coming, why they couldn't have stopped it, and how they caused this.

went to the beach in santa monica yesterday and met a black family from wilmington.  i asked them if they knew munson and they said no.

lol.   not sure what the elevation is in boulder, but a few months ago i was in bridgeport, ca which is about an hour due west of reno, and the elevation was approx 7300ft.  anytime i walked up a flight of steps or up even the slightest hill i had to stop and catch my breath.....by having a smoke.
